Greeting readers!
A super short update for all of you, so I hope you love it! See you next week!

“The male equivalent of one born into silence.” Silens said with a nod of her head. “It’s a good choice.”
“He was dead, Shaman. How did she…”
“He wasn’t dead. He just needed some air and life force. That is all. Nothing a shaman couldn’t handle.” Lied Silens, knowing the full scope of what Kay had done with not just one baby, but now two.
This wasn’t going to go unnoticed by the king, and there was no way that Silens could prevent the villagers from speaking about what had happened.
“I know what I saw.” Insisted Mitis.
Silens put a hand on her shoulder and said softly, “Don’t spread rumours of things you don’t comprehend, child. Nurse your son, for I am sure the king will be here within a few days to see what heir you have produced for him.”
Silens took the baby once he had finished eating and put him in a bassinet that had been prepared in case Mitis had decided to give birth here. The old woman couldn’t keep her eyes off the boy.
Gatex.
It was the name of her youngest son, named after her father. She shook her head. She had heard stories of her grandmother from her father when she was young. She had been a spitfire of a woman who never missed an opportunity to tell her grandfather what an idiot he was, even before their son started warring with his other brothers. She was nothing like Mitis.
Silens then looked to where Kay had rolled over, grunting in her sleep. Had the girl just made sure that Silens’s entire line would continue? No, that couldn’t be right. Her father never mentioned this. But then again, why would he? Silens had been four when he had bounced her on his knee, telling her of her family tree. She hadn’t even fully decided that she would war with her own brothers for the throne back then.
Silens shook her head and returned to the kitchen to pour another bowl of food for Kay. She set it down on the roughly hewed table and laid a hand on Kay’s shoulder. The woman stirred and rolled, looking at Silens with a daze.
“What? I was sleeping.” She moaned.
“Get up and eat.” Said Silens softly.
“I had to.” Said Kay, and she slowly sat up. “Mitis was screaming, heartbroken when she saw the cord. I had to do something.”
“Shh. Eat, you don’t need to explain.”
Kay wanted to ask if her rushing to get the birth done in the village instead of bringing the girl here resulted in the wrapped cord. Silens wouldn’t let her speak. Instead, she threatened to spoon-feed Kay.
The woman took the bowl and started eating, but her heart wasn’t in it. She was clearly too tired. She struggled through half a bowl of stew before setting it aside and flopping back into bed. Silens was sure that she had drifted off to sleep once more, but then Kay asked clearly.
“What gift do you give the firstborn son of a king?”
Silens chuckled and said, “Something white.”
“Hmm. I saw a white stag through the rain as I was heading to the village. A sign?”
“Perhaps.”
“A new baby blanket is a traditional gift at a baby shower. I’ll hunt that stag.” Muttered Kay as she dropped off to sleep.
