What a week! I've been quiet around here because my week has been one of those hectic ones that leaves me only wanting dinner and straight to bed after work. So I went through my photos and thought of sharing Peruvian Lilly flower that I photos in January of this year with you.

In most cases, there's always a price to reaching the summit of a hike, the beautiful breathtaking taking views or a waterfall are always rewarding and worth the walk but for the Godley Head walk there is more to it than the views.

Going through my photos as I wrap up the Taylors Mistake - Godley Head hike, I realized I left out photos that fit into yesterday's post about World War II. So, the next seven photos 📸 give us more insight into New Zealand's reaction to World War II. It is important to know the purpose of the guns at Godley Head is not defend Christchurch but to protect Lyttelton harbor. My guess is Lyttelton port is of high significance for Christchurch, something I am yet to educate myself about.

For me, it was another hike to the summit, enjoy the views and feel refreshed afterward, but there was a surprise to explore at Godley Head summit, which I didn't know awaits me. We made it to the top and were proud of us. The little gate with a sign "Godley Head" led us to not only the summit but a war memorial site where circular gun pits were used during World War 2 is situated.

My love for nature extends to the two balls that light up our planet during the day and night time. You will naturally find me chasing sunset, but since I haven't discovered a spot for proper sunset viewing in Christchurch and sunrise being over the ocean at New Brighton Beach which I have been lazy to get up early in the morning for a 24km drive, I have settled for moon shots 📸.
