Hail to the Hive!We were recently moving the boat to a new location as we only have 2 weeks in any one spot and we like to be in beautiful spots close to facilities. This little stretch between Kilby Bridge and Foxton locks is particularly lovely.

Hail to the Hive!We have been living on Canal narrowboats now for 4 years and have coped fairly well with living on boats that many would consider too small for full time living aboard but lately we have been feeling the need to hopefully speed up a move to a bigger boat. It always boils down to finances. There is also the dilemma that we would have to be decanted for a while if we were to sell the boat we are living on currently in order to leverage the funds for the next leap. Most of the boats we saw that would be ideal were just a touch too much financially to be realistic.

Hail to the Hive!Todays selection were all taken along the same 100m of canal on the Leicester Line of the Grand Union Canal, a mere 8 miles from the city centre.It’s a location we have stayed at many times as its nice and quiet, relatively pretty and clpose to canal facilities ( such as fresh water and waste disposal) and also shops near by. The perfect pit stop.

Hail to the Hive!There’s something. Special about spring. I guess thats why there are so many religious and cultural connotations to it. Nature is awakening and the days are getting longer. The sun is at least attempting to put a shift in and it just has an all round pleasant vibe.

Hail to the Hive!Spring has sprung, as they say, and with it are these occasional glorious days, a tease, a sneak peak, a promise of what summer may yet give us in the near future. Or so I hope as last year was a complete washout with rain and and of course MORE RAIN!

Hail to the Hive!The Canal is often referred to as “The Cut” as it was literally cut into the landscape by hand , well many thousands of hands actually carrying shovels and picks. If you have watched “Peaky Blinders’ you will have heard them refer the “the Cut’ when talking of where to dispose of bodies and such like.
