Hail to the Hive!The Canal is often referred to as “The Cut” as it was literally cut into the landscape by hand , well many thousands of hands actually carrying shovels and picks. If you have watched “Peaky Blinders’ you will have heard them refer the “the Cut’ when talking of where to dispose of bodies and such like.

Hail to the Hive!I find it incredible how a place you may have visited dozens of times befdore can be transformed so wildly by the weather on any given day. Tae the Watford flight of locks for instance. We have been up and down this set of locks many times on rainy and sunny days, in Winter, spring, summer & fall and it has felt so different on all of these occasions as most places do due to the weather conditions. But on this winter early evening, shortly before sunset it was the sky that caught my eye. It just filled the canvas and added a real magical quality to an already very cool place.

Hail to the Hive!Yessss, we are back off grid. Dailyu cruising through good weather and bad. Different mooring every night, fresh views and freedom.We do appreciate being able to use our little base in the Fazeley area when we need to but there’s something special about being back to nomadic, back to the freedom the ‘cut’ gives you. The freedom to roam, pitch up where you want, move. When you want and plan to go where you want. it’s bliss.

Hail to the Hive!we have been on the move again and nothing feels better than being nomadic again on the water, it’s liberating. The weather has been ostly shit though, rain and wind and higher winds and more rain with a nice little storm blowing through which cut one of our traveling chugging along days very short.

Hail to the Hive!Winter ain’t my favorite time of year to be sure to be sure but there is something to be said for the quality vibe it adds to Black & White photography.Leaves being removed from trees giving them a skeletal quality you don’t get when they are sporting leaves. I crispness to the air that you can almost feel in the photos.
