When we were asked, "How long have you been on the road?", I had to look at my calendar to figure it out
Three weeks. We've been on the road for three weeks.
It feels like three months; so much had happened. So much, that even though I'm writing posts almost every day, they are simply the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the many interesting and sometimes challenging things that happen in each 24 hour period.
This morning we woke up on KI (Kangaroo Island). We both did some exercise before breakfast, that I made inside our big room from ingredients we'd bought at supermarkets in the previous days.
We explored a tiny town called American River on the way to the ferry terminal at Penneshaw. We were, as usual, early. (@new.things likes to be early for everything!)
But this time we were too early: the last ferry hadn't boarded yet and we would have been in the way. So we explored Penneshaw by foot.
Which took all of ten minutes 😂
Once we were on OUR ferry, I thought it would go smoothly enough; the way over there was okay with my ginger tablets taken and front row seats.
But alas, this time the sea was rougher and I had to get seats to one side and about 2/3rds of the way there I threw up everything I'd drunk in the hours previous (and perhaps my breakfast too. I don't know for sure because I didn't check 🫣).
It's been years since I vomited, so it was a bit of a surprise. But a staff member came over immediately to help. And Brad was a total champ: supportive, kind and his usual, practical helpful self.
It wasn't the most pleasant experience but thankfully, once I was on land I felt a heap better, but strangely, very sleepy! So, while Mister drove to Adelaide, I lower my chair backwards, shut my eyes and tried to relax as we wound our way around one corner after another.
The post seems to be turning into a saga. See what I mean about so much happening on one day? I'm still many, many paragraphs away from telling you about the Hive Meetup!! So, for the sake of time - and my need for sleep! - I'll jump straight to The Duke of Brunswick Hotel...
We met @holoz0r, @mattclarke (& his son, Fletch), @ctrpch (who took this photo - thank you!) and a lady who I wish I could remember her name (can someone please tag her? 🙏🥹)
It was SO great to meet Hivers IN PERSON.
If you've never taken the time and you have the chance, I highly recommend it!
Brad and I do so much of this on our own, connecting with people online. But we figured out how to get onto the block chain initially without an intro from a human we knew and despite Brad's best efforts to recruit our friends to join us, they have not been anywhere near as interested or committed.
So, to hang out with others who know a lot about Hive - far more than us! - was truly wonderful 😊
Thank you all so much!
And thank you, @galenkp for connecting @new.things with @holoz0r as we may not have found the crew without your help. 🙌
