Oh gosh, I’ve been absent! It was a very busy time for me, but I’m back.I had a wonderful Sunday. It started with a walk at the dog park with my poor old geriatric pooch, Zoey. That was followed by some yard work and chores around the house, and then some writing. Then I did some shopping at the hardware store with my sister. Then I took a nap, made dinner, and took another walk with my husband. A great day overall, and an awesome day for steps!

I had a truly awesome Mother’s Day, starting with a family brunch. Then my kids and future son-in-law helped me with some mulching, planting and cleaning my backyard pond. A busy day!And of course all those projects were good for getting steps.

I have to say, I’m feeling pretty good about my property after two solid weeks of digging, raking, tidying, burning and — at last— planting.You’d think I was getting ready to put my house on the market. Nope! Just doing all the work required to convert it from its very messy and dormant winter state to its vibrant spring state.

My friends, if you have been seeing my posts over the past few weeks, then you know I have been completely devoted to my yard and garden — not because it’s time to plant and get some color around the property, but because the place requires SO much cleanup work.

This weekend was all about the yard and garden! I don’t have a whole lot to show for it yet in terms of flowers and color because I’m still in winter cleanup mode (and until today it has been cold and/or rainy), but it was so exciting to get a lot done around the property.

My fate for the coming weeks is sealed: I will be cleaning up from winter, burning debris, weeding, digging and planting. Fortunately I love it! And the side benefit is that there is a lot of exercise involved.Today’s effort involved pulling Creeping Charlie out of one of my gardens and preparing to put in a new border. (Which I may enlist hubby to do. He’s not big on gardening, but if I give him a task and point him in a direction, he’s very good at getting stuff done!)
