Thank you HiveAs I move into this next chapter of my life, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to the community that I have grown to love over the last six years. I have had a great time sharing my photography with you all over the years.
Just a testAs the end of summer approaches, that means that the hummingbirds that come to my yard will soon be migrating back down south for the winter. So I am running out of chances to get pictures of these cool birds before they are gone for the remainder of the year.
Such weird bugsToday while I was on my morning walk, I found a dragon fly in the grass. I normally would have just left it there and kept walking, but when I looked at it up close, I noticed that it was still in perfect shape. It isn't all the time that you find a delicate insect like this in such good condition, so I decided to pick it up and bring it home for a photoshoot.
These shots were hard to getHummingbirds are super fast little creatures. And the closer you are to them trying to get pictures, the harder it seems to be.For these shots, I was probably within about three feet of them. That may not seem like it is too close, but when using a 200mm lens, the birds take up most of the frame, so trying to get them in frame before they disappear is pretty tricky.
These birds are magicalHummingbirds are my favorite type of bird out there. They may even be my spirit animal. There is just something so magical about these birds are they zip around at super high speeds. They are basically like little fighter jets that zoom around the yard. Especially when there are multiple ones and they are fighting over their turn to drink from the feeders.
I hope he is okA few days ago when I was taking pictures of my flowers, I noticed a small finch that didn't fly away like all the other birds do when I got close. I noticed it hanging out on the ground and then when I got closer to it, it jumped up into my sunflowers and was trying to hide.
