Good evening, #Monomad friends
Here is my entry for the #monomad contest by @brumest and @monochromes.
The Trinity
On a short walk I took the other day, I passed by one of the oldest churches near my home.
I don’t usually take this route. I ended up taking a few minutes I had, halfway through the walk, to stop for a moment and admire some of the details.
Interestingly, I was only able to see the connection between what I ended up capturing with my phone.
From the churchyard, contemplating the view was something that calmed me in that very moment. I let my mind simply be... I judge nothing. I try not to think of anything... A difficult task, I confess, because that calm is constantly interrupted by one intrusive thought or another. But in the next moment, I try to notice what distracted me... and let it go. I inhale... and exhale. I did it two more times... This magic of seeking all tranquility within ourselves is truly important. In that very moment, we can see that it depends only on us. Nothing prevents thoughts or stimuli from throwing us off course... but we realize that this is only, and solely, momentary. Like everything in life.
Realign. Breathe in. Breathe out. And just be in the moment.
In this little exercise, I found three elements that characterize this place well. The bell tower, the stone crucifix, and the iron lamp... The sound, the image, and the light... All interconnected. Three elements that form just one.
