Re-cre-ativi-ty - Hypersensitivosaurus, Mrs. Mosquito and a Wild Cat

2025-04-14T14:04:15
Hypersensitivosaurus was walking through the forest. It looked lush and seemed greener than ever before. He slashed away the parasitic plants, doing his utmost best to not cut off any asparagus stems, as it was their fruit, wild asparagus, that he was on the lookout for.
Talking about parasites, the flying ones seemed to be less abundant than per usual, this time of the year.
It made him wonder how Mrs. Mosquito was doing. Not that he missed her, far from it, but he felt that she was likely missing him. Mrs. M. had always been desperate to make friends, as nobody liked her.
Mosquitoes were an awful pest.
He still remembered how she came for him, when he was sleeping or trying to do so. Couldn’t she have picked some other dino, one of the thick skinned ones with a smaller brain, that didn’t feel much at all?
He shook his head to get rid of the memories. Not because he was getting nostalgic but because he felt giving them too much attention might actually attract the li’l buggers.
A huge wild cat was glaring at him from a distance. It seemed to be a friendly, furry fellow. And – in all honesty – it should be wise enough to not attack a giant lizard like him. The creature would be no match for his raptor claws and -teeth anyway.
Who was he kidding?
He was a peaceful fellow. Just the idea of eating hairy, meaty things made him cringe.
TO BE CONVINUED(?)...

In case you weren't aware of this, Mrs. Mosquito and Hypersensitivosaurus are characters in stories that I wrote between 2019 and the start of last year/2024. In fact, I self-published two Hypersensitivosaurus ( and other animals) books.
If you've got time to spare, you can find a bunch of Mrs. Mosquito stories here ( by scrolling to the end of this post): An open letter to Mrs. Mosquito - on eating bugs or being eaten by them
And here's the cat that inspired part of the above story:
Benjamino
also known as:
How to draw me when I keep changing position every couple of seconds?
And here's a picture of Betty
who is quite sweet
but was too smelly to sit on my lap, so she ended up chilling on a blanket, right next to me.
Even her cute eyes, looking at me seductively ( please can I sit on your lap?), as depicted in the top photo, didn't do the trick.
To summarize: I am slowly reclaiming my creativity after not having felt it for quite some time and being heavily distracted, mostly for good reasons.
Two days ago, while @clareartista and I watched 'Miss Potter' , a movie about the life of Beatrix Potter ( the creator of Peter Rabbit ), I once again realized that I want to create little stories about animals and add drawings to them, possibly in water color.
Drawing and observing cats, as I have been doing this afternoon, is the start of this. Let's see what this leads to, in the long term.
P.S. Talking about creativity... How do you like this picture of me juggling with grapefruit?
This was taken by Clare, today. It shows me in today's drawing chair, positioned in a(n absent) neighbor's garden.
