Hello my loving Hiveans,
How are you?, Good evening to all my dear friends. As usual, today I wish you/I believe that you have your happiness. So my dear friends, these days we are preparing very quickly to celebrate a national festival. That is the Sinhala Hindu New Year. In this, all the people of both the Sinhala race and the Tamil religion come together and celebrate this festival with great pomp. This is a traditional festival.For this festival, especially as housewives, decorating the house and making new food/sweets is a constant thing. But with the current situation I am in, it is difficult for me to do all this. Because I want to do it alone. So I thought of making a special sweet dish for the Sinhala New Year to make my child happy and to make her happy. This is called 'Hendi Kewum'. This is very easy to make. I also made it for the first time today. Especially since I made it differently from the traditional way of making it. However, let's see how to make this sweet dish.
Ingredients;
- 100g of stringhoppers flour
- 100g of plain flour
- Four tablespoons of sugar caramel syrup
- Half cup of white sugar
- Half cup of hot water
- Half cup of water
- A pinch of salt powder
- A teaspoon of fennel seeds
The method of making;
First, add half a cup of sugar to hot water and dissolve it well.
Then add four tablespoons of sugar caramel syrup to bowl and dissolve well.
Add pinch of salt powder and fennel seeds.
Afterthat add stringhoppers flour and plain flour.
Mix everything together well.
Now add water little by little, diluting this mixture until it is neither too runny nor too thick.
Cover with a lid and set aside for about four hours.
After four hours, stir the mixture again. If it feels too thick, add another two tablespoons of water to dissolve it out.
Now place a deep frying pan on the stove, add oil first and heat it well.
Now add about three tablespoons of this mixture to the oil.
This mixture will bubble and rise to the top in about three minutes.
Fry both sides until they are a medium-dark brown color and remove from the heat. Be especially careful with the heat. The heat will increase over time, so fry well on low heat.
It's a New Year's dish, it's really delicious. I made it for the first time. This is sweet. But the sweetness is not too much, not too little. There is just the right amount. It's not difficult to make. Even though it takes time to make, this is not that difficult to make. It's a very delicious sweet dish that you can enjoy, especially with a hot cup of coffee, a hot cup of tea, and when it rains.
Warmly thanking you for reading.
