Across Another Time

Across Another Time

Stood at the edge of the last boundary,
Between the Living Gone and the One to come.
All above dreaming, sleeping soundly,
Of a life from whence there's no need to run.
The edges of time lay frayed and thin,
Nothing to hold back the traveller's mind.
The only question is from where to begin,
And that depends on what is hoped to find.
Take a step out into the void and fall,
Or climb or fly, there's no way to tell.
And no one left to answer the final call,
And nothing left in hand to trade nor sell.
Alone, and nothing to hold one back,
From leaving the path and taking another way.
No tether to the past, nor love of track,
Missing a single reason to continue to stay.
All that is behind is the shattered shards,
Of hopes and dreams broken upon life itself.
I guess it wasn't in the stars or the cards,
To live a full life, beyond the shelf.
