In the early years of junior high school, I had a nickname provided by my close friends that was fashioned in the stereotypical Australian way, of being ironic. It is the type of thing where someone with red hair, is called Blue. Or the tallest guy, is called Shorty. For a couple years, I was called Tonto, because I am of Indian background. That is of course, a reference to an Indian from a completely different culture and part of the world, which is why it was chosen for me. This was only used by a close circle of friends.

The other day, I bought a tree for Christmas. After much searching, I was able to find the type that we have had the last few years and have liked, but it isn't the "greatest" tree this year. From the gardening centre that shut down a couple months ago, we were able to pick the trees before packaging them up in netting for transportation. These ones were pre packed, which other than the height, means sight unseen.

I have been trading a little through that time, but there are some dangers involved with what was a "set and forget" approach.

I was talking with clients today about "doing the right thing" and while it might sound like it at this point, it isn't about some moral position on right and wrong. Rather, it was about the personal right things that we should be doing for ourselves in order to have a good life, as we might define it. The discussion wasn't about what these things are and instead, about how little bandwidth and skill we have in order to make them happen in our daily lives. Even if we did "have the time" to do them, we don't have the mental bandwidth or knowledge to do them effectively.

I was reading an article about a celebrity couple that got me thinking. It was about a mention from one of them that while they are wealthy now, they were both raised working class. And of course, the internet being filled with people who spend too much time on the internet, and the articles looking for some kind of juxtaposition to face people off against each other, there was outrage. Because while they agreed that one of them was from a working class background, the other was not. Now consider the question before reading on;

A couple weeks back I wrote a little about the insurance company CEO being murdered in New York, and how it is likely a reaction to a number of factors that I have been writing about for year, with social disconnection and financial hardship of the masses, while those in positions of power benefit from the suffering.
