There is upcoming marriage in my family. One of my neice is going to tie the knot in coming months. It will be on May, but still the preparation has begun all the way for a gala celebration. While her Mom and Dad gets emotional on the very thought of her daughter marriage, the girl is quite busy in choosing the bridal wear. Such cloth are available in the market at a high price which made me to wonder is it OK to buy such expensive cloth for few hours ?
On her request, I arranged few of the samples from my friend store. I am thankful to him that he promptly reacted on my request and sent me some photos.
When it comes to Indian marriages the bride always wants to look beautiful and that makes them for too much shopping. Weddings are significant life events, and brides often prioritize having a special, memorable outfit for their big day, leading to a willingness to spend more.
This makes the bridal wear business too lucrative option. These dresses are available at high price. Many bridal outfits, particularly lehengas, feature elaborate embroidery, beading, and other embellishments that require skilled labor and time, driving up the cost. Bridal wear often utilizes luxurious fabrics like silk, satin, and velvet, which are naturally more expensive than everyday materials. Designer bridal wear is often seen as a statement piece, and the designer's reputation and unique designs contribute to the price tag. The time and expertise required to create these intricate garments, from the initial design to the final stitching, contribute to the overall cost.
While my friend has a wholesale shop in the busy street of chandigarh chowk, these garments cost much more when it reaches to retail shops. People have no control on spending and keep buying them to make the ocassion special. I happen to be against such practice, but when it comes to daughter happiness, people do not worry of the prices.
How do you see these as practice. Do you support buying such cloth for few hours and then leaving these dresses in your wardrobe.
In good faith - Peace!!
