This afternoon when leaving work I was thinking about some things that I realized today, teamwork under "healthy" competition is something very difficult to carry out, because there will always be a group of people dissatisfied by any situation that jeopardizes their work, because in the end the employer only wants one thing, solutions and that you sell the service as much as possible.
However, in every group there is a person, not to say a black sheep, who without any important position that requires decision making over someone, likes to see the teamwork attempt burn or unbalanced.
What is done in "jest" in a competitive environment is something that can be subtle, which is why I always resort to sarcasm and not taking anything personally. The problem is when there are very direct signs that indicate that it is indeed something personal, maybe it is a grudge or envy, I prefer to think that it is childish nonsense.
Today that person was free and the work place was something impressive, because we were a very close team in the things we needed to solve and everyone did a good job.
Definitely even though someone sells the service and is at the top of the list doesn't mean they should be dismissed for creating hostile and intimidating environments because in the end it's a job that requires a team not a single person who may not be able to do even a quarter of the daily work.
Today was a happy day, tomorrow? We will see.
