Hello gente de Hive! Espero que todos estén muy bien. Por estos lados súper activada con las cositas del cuarto de Miranda, y en esta oportunidad les quiero compartir un nuevo proyecto que irá ubicado en la pared donde está el escritorio, y se trata de una especie de rejilla para colgar diferentes cositas, entre ellas las photocards de k-pop, pero en este caso no es una rejilla cuadrada, sino que decidà hacerla en forma de panal utilizando paletas en tonos pasteles.
Hello, Hive community! I hope you’re all doing well. I’ve been super busy here with all the bits and bobs for Miranda’s room, and this time I want to share a new project with you that will go on the wall where the desk is. It’s a sort of grid for hanging various bits and bobs, including K-pop photocards, but in this case it’s not a square grid – I decided to make it in the shape of a honeycomb using pastel-coloured lollipop sticks.
Estas rejillas están en tendencia hace un tiempo ya, y aunque las puedes encontrar en el mercado aquà en la isla no las he visto, y la verdad es que me parecen muy lindas, ya que son súper decorativas, y en el caso de Miranda son perfectas para exhibir parte de su colección de photocards de sus grupos de k-pop favoritos, y aunque aún no vamos a decorar la pared porque hay que pintar toda la habitación, decidà pegarlas para que vieran lo lindas que se ven. Y dejando la charla de lado vamos a entrar en materia.
These grids have been all the rage for a while now, and although you can find them on the market, I haven’t seen them here on the island, and to be honest, I think they’re really lovely, as they’re super decorative, and in Miranda’s case, they’re perfect for displaying part of her collection of photocards of her favourite K-pop groups, and although we’re not going to decorate the wall just yet because the whole room needs a paint job, I decided to stick them up so you could see how lovely they look. But enough chit-chat, let’s get down to business.

Para la elaboración de los hexágonos pasteles lo primero que hice fue pintar las paletas con los diferentes colores, y les cuento que para cada uno van a necesitar 12 paletas, entonces lo que hice fue que las separes y fui trabajando por colores según la cantidad que iba a necesitar de cada uno, obviamente ustedes pueden utilizar el color que deseen o dejar las paletas en crudo que también es una muy buena opción.
To make the pastel hexagons, the first thing I did was paint the ice lolly sticks in different colours. You’ll need 12 sticks for each one, so I sorted them out and worked by colour according to how many of each I needed. Of course, you can use whatever colours you like, or leave the sticks unpainted, which is also a great option.
Una vez tuve todas las paletas pintadas lo siguiente fue realizar un molde porque les cuento que no es tan sencillo como parece y tuve que despegar las paletas varias veces porque no quedaban iguales, asĂ que hice unas cuadrĂculas en una hoja y luego saquĂ© la forma y de esta manera se me hizo mucho más fácil armar los hexágonos y que todos quedarán iguales.
Once I’d painted all the ice lolly sticks the next step was to make a template – because, believe me, it’s not as easy as it looks. I had to peel the slats off several times because they weren’t coming out the same, so I drew some grids on a sheet of paper and then traced the shape. That made it much easier for me to assemble the hexagons and ensure they all turned out the same.
Les cuento que para cada celda de nuestro panal decorativo vamos a necesitar dos hexágonos y el primero de ellos lo hice utilizando el molde y es en este donde vamos a pegar el estambre haciéndolo pasar de un lado a otro sin saturarlo ya que no queremos cubrirlo totalmente sino crear una superficie que nos sirva para sujetar fotos o cualquier otro elemento.
I’ll explain that for each cell in our decorative honeycomb, we’ll need two hexagons. I made the first one using the template, and this is where we’ll attach the yarn, weaving it back and forth without overloading it – we don’t want to cover it completely, but rather create a surface that we can use to display photos or any other items.
Una vez terminamos de pegar el estambre fijamos con silicón todas las uniones en las paletas para evitar que se muevan y comenzamos a armar el otro hexágono directamente sobre el que tiene el estambre, y esto lo hacemos para cubrirlo y que solo se vea en el centro, y lo que haremos es ir fijando las paletas una a una sobre las otras, teniendo cuidado de que queden bien ubicadas y de esta forma vamos armando celdas de diferentes colores.
Once we’ve finished attaching the yarn, we secure all the joints on the palettes with silicone to prevent them from moving, and we start assembling the other hexagon directly on top of the one with the yarn, and we do this to cover it so that it is only visible in the centre. We then secure the panels one by one on top of the others, taking care to ensure they are positioned correctly, and in this way we assemble cells of different colours.
Cuando las tuve listas las coloquĂ© en la mesa para definir cĂłmo las colocarĂa y luego por detrás les peguĂ© taquitos de adhesivo doble faz para finalmente ir ubicándolas en la pared y luego colocar algunas de las photocards de Miranda, solo para el post, porque ya ella lo organizará como desee, pero les cuento que pueden colocar muchas cositas más como llaveros, pinzas para el cabello, fotos, notitas, etc.
Once they were ready, I laid them out on the table to work out how I’d arrange them, then stuck small pieces of double-sided tape to the back so I could finally attach them to the wall. I also added a few of Miranda’s photo cards, just for the sake of this post – she’ll arrange them however she likes – but I’ll let you know that you can add lots of other little things too, such as key rings, hair clips, photos, sticky notes, and so on.
Como pueden ver, el resultado final es muy lindo, y estoy segura que con el gris claro de fondo va a verse muchĂsimo más bonito, pero tendrán que esperar un poco más para ver todo el proyecto terminado. De momento, tenemos casi lista el área del escritorio, y una de las mesitas de noche con sus respectivas decoraciones, asĂ que vamos avanzando.
As you can see, the end result is really lovely, and I’m sure it’ll look even better against the light grey background, but you’ll have to wait a little longer to see the finished project. For now, the desk area is almost ready, and one of the bedside tables has been decorated, so we’re making good progress.
