¿Reciclar o reutilizar? ¡He ahí el dilema!, y es que para muchos reciclar y reutilizar significa lo mismo, pero la verdad es que no lo es, y aunque básicamente en ambos casos estamos "reutilizando" algo, la diferencia está en el cómo lo hacemos.
Por ejemplo, reciclar implica clasificación y procesamiento de desechos ya sea para volver a utilizarse en su forma original o transformando la materia prima de los mismos para crear otras cosas del mismo material, ya sea vidrio, cartón, plástico, etc.
Por el contrario reutilizar, no es más que darle una segunda oportunidad a algo que ya cumplió la función para la cual fue creado, y que sin nuestra intervención sería desechado como basura, como es el caso de las botellas plásticas o de vidrio que contienen productos de uso cotidiano en casa como los alimentos o productos de limpieza, pero por supuesto que reutilizar no se limita solo a eso, sino que puede extenderse a un sin fin de cosas como la transformación o recuperación de algún mueble que tengamos en casa por ejemplo.
The dilemma is that for many people recycling and reusing mean the same thing, but the truth is that they are not, and although basically in both cases we are "reusing " something, the difference is in how we do it.
For example, recycling implies sorting and processing waste either to reuse it in its original form or transforming the raw material from it to create other things from the same material, be it glass, cardboard, plastic, etc.
On the contrary, reuse, is nothing more than giving a second chance to something that has already fulfilled the function for which it was created, and that without our intervention would be discarded as garbage, as is the case of plastic or glass bottles containing products of daily use at home such as food or cleaning products, but of course reuse is not limited to that, but can be extended to an endless number of things such as the transformation or recovery of a piece of furniture we have at home for example.
Image by Canva Dicho esto, en mi país (Venezuela), aunque desde preescolar se les enseña a los niños sobre el "reciclaje", incluidos los colores que se utilizan para la clasificación de los desechos, el reciclaje como tal no existe, y no existe porque en principio, ni siquiera contamos con lo básico, que son los contenedores, así que hablar de reciclaje como tal, la verdad es que no, pero algo en lo que sí somos expertos es en "reutilizar" cuanta cosa nos pasa por las manos.
Particularmente, yo soy fan de todo este movimiento, ya que amo crear cosas con mis manos, de hecho si se dan una vuelta por mi blog, se van a encontrar desde repisas hechas con piezas de otros muebles que se han dañado en casa, pasando por la renovación de closets y un sin fin de piezas no solo decorativas sino con alguna utilidad para mi hogar.

Particularly, I am a fan of this whole movement, as I love to create things with my hands, in fact if you take a tour around my blog, you will find from shelves made with pieces of other furniture that have been damaged at home, through the renovation of closets and endless pieces not only decorative but with some utility for my home.
Por suerte somos muchos los que nos hemos unido a este movimiento en todo el mundo, y de cierto modo con esta práctica contribuimos a disminuir un poco el volúmen de desechos que se producen a diario, pero seamos sinceros, esa cositas que reutilizamos, tarde o temprano serán desechadas, así que lo ideal sería activarse en pro de la aplicación del reciclaje tal y como está concebido para que pudiésemos lograr realmente un impacto ambiental, pero la verdad es que en cuanto a mi país, de momento, no soy muy optimista. Toca seguir haciendo lo poquito que podemos, cada quien desde nuestra esquina.

Fortunately there are many of us who have joined this movement around the world, and in a way with this practice we contribute to decrease a little the volume of waste that is produced daily, but let's face it, those things that we reuse, sooner or later will be discarded, so the ideal would be to activate in favor of the implementation of recycling as it is conceived so that we could really achieve an environmental impact, but the truth is that as for my country, for now, I'm not very optimistic. We must continue to do what little we can, each one of us from our own corner.
