Screw You Temu & Your Pretty Jars

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Sometimes minimalism is saying NO to the things that dark consumerism says you want, and finding an alternative. You have to use some willpower, and wait for the feelings of desire to pass. I really did desire that set of spice jars with bamboo tops on Temu, the advertisment that crept it's way into one of my social feeds yesterday. They looked so pretty.
**SLAPS SELF HARD
Your jars are in drawers, fool, I tell myself. Get a grip.
To get over my desire further, I thought I'd set to tidying said drawers. Vaccuum up the spilt oats. Relabel the containers. Take stock. This drawer has mainly rice, lentils, seeds, and porridge oats. I'm down a canister for ordinary oats, so I'll sort that out at some point.
Next was the slide out drawer under the fridge cupboard - this is the drawer that I piff packets of things from my shop in to deal with later, when I can't be bothered putting things into jars. But it also contains things I don't general put in jars, like soba noodles, gnocchi, packets of black rice, and so on. Don't worry, this drawer will again be a mess within a month, but doesn't it look TIDY now? And I found I had three packets of sunflower seeds, when I thought I had none. Score.
Right, now the spice drawer. Texting with Mum this morning revealed just how much she'd been procrastinating. I get it it - grief makes everything difficult. Not that we're all the same, but lists work for me. Today mine was long, but it does help to get things ticked off.
tidy drawers
make sauerkraut
Jamie's bali visa
washing
change sheets
who gives a crap order
make bread
chemist - asthma meds
By 11, I was quite proud of myself. I'd finished all the drawers, including vacuuming them out.
Now to procrastinate...
