Going to bed and waking up at different times each day can disrupt our circadian rhythm. The fast paced modern lifestyle often hamper a good sleep. Worries about work, school, health, or finances can keep the mind active at night, making it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. Irregular sleep schedules, daytime naps, and an uncomfortable sleep environment can negatively impact sleep quality. All this factor may spoil the overall wellbeing of an individuals. In this context Sanskrit has following to say :
दिवसेनैव तत्कुर्यात् येन रात्रौ सुखं वसेत्
यावज्जीवं च तत्कुर्याद् येन प्रेत्य सुखं वसेत्
Divasenaiva tatkuryaat yena raatrou sukham vaset
Yawajjeevam cha tatkuryaad yena pretya sukham vaset
Divasenaive = during the day.
Divas = day
Iva = during,
Tat = that, such.
Kuryaat = do
Yena = by which
Raatrou = during the night.
Sukham = comfort, any thing that makes one feel more at ease,or happier.
Yaavat = so long.
Jeevam = alive.
Kuryaad = do.
Pretya = throughout the period one remains alive.
One should indulge in such deeds during day time by which he gets a comfortable and carefree sleep during the night (without musing over the consequence of his actions during the day). Therefore, so long a person remains alive he should follow this advice and live happily.
Sleep allows the body to repair tissues, build muscle, and replenish energy stores. Sleep is crucial for overall health and well-being because it allows the body and brain to repair, restore, and re-energize. Stress and anxiety increase the levels of stress hormones like cortisol, which can keep the body and mind aroused, making it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep. Happiness, on the other hand, helps to regulate cortisol levels, promoting a calmer state that is conducive to sleep.
