This author had a truly impressive narrative style, and although his works were based on fiction, we do not see stories about space, other worlds, or monsters born of evil things. On the contrary, George offers us masterful stories about the most commonplace things. Anything can happen in a small laboratory or a simple room or kitchen, and that is what I like, because the fantastic is created from the everyday.

An example of this is the review I offer you of the story La Mosca. It is a story that emphasizes a failed experiment and, from that moment on, presents a deep anxiety about the loss of control of one's own personality. Here we see how a person can struggle to stay alive; however, when curiosity overpowers reason, lines are crossed where turning back is impossible. Sometimes, opening a door that remains closed is no guarantee of success; on the contrary, if someone plays at being God, they may be in for many surprises, even putting their own life at risk. The truth is that sometimes the ambition to achieve something causes us to make mistakes and makes us think that everything that happens here could happen to any of us.

He is extremely anxious, and all of this leads him to push the devastating results that may soon occur out of his mind.

Our character has conducted some tests with inanimate objects, but has not achieved what he wants. We make adjustments and suddenly, accompanied by his wife Anne, the desired result occurs. He placed a bottle of champagne and two glasses on one side of the machine and began the teleportation experiment. Everything was disintegrated in one cabin, and the same items successfully appeared in the other cabin. With these objects having worked, it was time to celebrate. It was time to try it with a living subject, so he used his guinea pig. He started the process again, and it was also successful, but the animal had to be examined, and that would take a long time.

With growing anxiety and without waiting for the right moment, he conducted several experiments with his dog, and fortunately, everything worked. The only thing left was to try it on humans, but who would dare to be disintegrated and reappear? There was no one else but Robert himself; he would have to test his creation himself. Let's do it, but the worst happens. Upon entering the cabin, he never thought that another living being would enter with him, and that it would be a simple fly. Something unexpected happens, and unlike in the 1986 film, where both elements merge and the fly's DNA predominates. In the story, the fly also predominates, but there is no fusion as such, and although Robert becomes a terrifying thing, the fly has also undergone a change that you must discover; each one came out separately.

For this reason, Robert asks his wife for something that will test all that love: he does not want to suffer. At first, the fly that escaped had to be caught, but his son has let it go. God only knows where it is at that moment; the key has disappeared.

The outcome of the story with regard to Robert and the same fly is simply incredible. And I tell you, when I read these pages, I was very satisfied. The plot is very good as well as disturbing, and despite seeing a story that focuses on science fiction and psychological horror, I liked the way the author approached the theme of love towards sacrifice. I say this because the relationship between the protagonists is so deep that they are able to maintain that sense of protection, even though everything changes from the personal to the monstrous, where that love remains alive, even though for one of them the world has ceased to exist. On the other hand, it makes us reflect on science and makes us think that it will never be exact and precise; the slightest error and everything is over. A veces, abrir una puerta que se mantiene cerrada, no es garantía de éxito; por el contrario, si alguien juega a ser Dios se puede llevar muchas sorpresas, incluso poner tu propia vida en riesgo. Lo cierto es, que en ocasiones la ambición por lograr algo, hace que cometamos errores y nos pone a pensar que todo lo que aquí ocurre, nos podría pasar a cualquiera de nosotros.

La historia que nos ofrece George Langelaan; nos invita a ver la vida de Robert, un brillante científico quien trabaja para el Ministerio y tiene como misión la de culminar un proyecto, que desde su punto de vista cambiará la historia de la humanidad. Para él; el solo hecho de desintegrar a un ser vivo y que se reintegre en otro lugar, sería el más grande todos los inventos. Para ello, debe adaptar sus máquinas lo mejor posible y realizar las pruebas que tenga que hacer para poder ofrecer su invento. Para mí; Robert tiene dentro de su ser la pura ambición de ser el primero en lograrlo, está súper ansioso y todo ello lo lleva a alejar de su mente los resultados devastadores que pronto pueden ocurrir.

Nuestro personaje ha realizado algunas pruebas con objetos inanimados, pero no la logrado lo que quiere. Realizamos ajustes y de pronto, acompañado de su esposa Anne, ocurre lo deseado. En un lado de la máquina colocó una botella de champagne y dos copas; inicia el experimento de teletransportación; en una cabina todo es desintegrado y exitosamente los mismos elementos aparecieron en la otra cabina; con estos objetos ha funcionado hay que celebrar. Es hora de hacerlo con un sujeto vivo y usa su cobaya; nuevamente inicia el proceso y también fue exitoso, pero hay que examinar al animal y eso llevará mucho tiempo.

Con más ansiedad y sin esperar los tiempos; realiza varios experimentos con su perro y felizmente todo ha funcionado. Solo quedaba hacerlo con seres humanos, ¿pero quien se atrevería a ser desintegrado y vuelto a aparecer?. No había nadie más que el propio Robert; él mismo tendría que probar su creación; vamos a hacerlo, pero ocurre lo peor. Al entrar a la cabina, jamás pensó que otro ser vivo entraría con él y este sería una simple mosca. Ocurre algo insospechado y a diferencia que en la película de 1986, donde ambos elementos se fusionan y predomina el adn de la mosca. En en el relato también predomina la mosca, pero no existe fusión como tal y aunque Robert se convierte en una aterradora cosa, la mosca también ha sufrido un cambio que ustedes deben descubrir; cada uno salió por separado.

Por tal motivo; Robert le pide a su esposa algo que pondrá a prueba todo ese amor, el no quiere sufrir. En un principio se debía atrapar la mosca que escapó; pero su hijo la ha dejado ir, sabrá Dios donde esté en ese momento, la clave ha desaparecido.

El desenlace de la obra con respecto a Robert y con la misma mosca, son sencillamente increíbles. Y les digo, que cuando leí estas páginas, me he quedado muy satisfecho. La trama es muy buena además de inquietante y a pesar de ver una historia que se enfoca en la ciencia ficción y el terror psicológico; me agradó la forma como el autor enfocó el tema del amor hacia el sacrificio. Se dice esto; porque la relación entre los protagonistas es tan profunda, que son capaces de mantener ese sentido de protección, a pesar de que todo cambia de lo personal hacia lo mostruoso; donde ese amor se mantiene vivo, aunque para uno de ellos el mundo ha dejado de existir. Por otra parte; nos hace reflexionar sobre la ciencia y nos pone a pensar que la misma nunca será exacta y precisa; el más mínimo error y todo se acaba. Una obra que tiene mucho tiempo de publicada, pero que sin duda alguna debes leer; saludos y nos vemos pronto.
