Trothguard Session 13 Recap

I am once again behind on linking up my recaps! We're about to run Session 15 this weekend, and here I've only got up to Session 12 posted! It's been a chunk of time since we ran Session 13, but it marked the official beginning of Act 2 for the campaign.

We now know definitively who the enemy is, we have a pretty good idea of what they want, and we have established our heroes firmly as local heroes.

This session gives the party, who have been basically one crazy event after another back to back, a 6-month time-skip, which jumps over the winter months in my world.

During this downtime, the city of Lavan begins in earnest to clean up after the disastrous earthquake suffered in Session 10, which canonically in-game was only two days prior to the events of Session 12. It's been a lot crammed in a very tiny bit of time, and the party deserves a much-needed break.

I had asked the players for an idea what they might want to do with their characters over the course of the time-skip, and they provided me some ideas to work with prior to actually sitting down at the table to play.

Peril was determined to spend as much downtime as he could helping folks in the poorest sections of Lavan, vigilante style. By the end of the six months, locals are calling this vigilante figure The Red Prince.

Muk-Muk went on a solo expedition to visit the graves of his first found-family of adventurers, which he unfortunately is the sole survivor of. He joins Peril on some of his vigilante work in the Depths.

Syl spent her time making magical trinkets for the party, allowing them to Message each-other at will. She also discovers an addiction to the strange pink mushrooms she picked up in the Red Forest, and eventually manages to shake that off.

Yuantine dives into alchemy, specifically things that go boom.

and finally, Quywn, spends some time learning about herbalism, reading books, and also diving a little into alchemy.

We've got a lot of alchemists in the party! Muk-Muk, Quywn, and Yuantine all somewhat overlap but have chosen different areas of expertise to pursue.

We also run into Fantasy Will Riker, who is our Question Man - a cursed individual that asks questions of adventurers that are just a little too specific. He seems to know too much; things he couldn't possibly know. After a bit of trial and error, the party does find a way to communicate with him and does discover that he has been cursed by a hag... but before he can give them any more information, he disappears!

With this new bit of information, Syl decides to spend some of her downtime going back to her temple, to see if they can help her uncover more information about the hag that has been troubling the area: Shtriga Nonna.

Quwyn also spends some time seeing if she can dig up info on Shtriga Nonna, and making her kitties some armour. Thus, Alpha One Feline Force is created!

We end the session there, having covered a lot of ground in a few short hours.

Fistandia speaks with John the Backpack Imp, and they catch up a bit. There is some guarded discussion about problems that he'd been trying to escape previously, and they both seem happy that the other is doing well.
