One mantra I’ve had in my life for as long as I can remember is to not expect anything from anyone or put my hopes in others. Because you’d end up being disappointed or worse when you shouldn’t. They say no man is an island and obviously, we all want to do this life thing with others.

However, there’s a limit to everything because as we grow , everyone starts to have their own stuff to do. People that used to be there for you all the time are not really available for so many reasons and that’s okay. That’s life. Speaking of disappointments, we are all bound to be disappointed by others in our lives at some point. These disappointments can stem from so many things ranging from finding out deep secrets about them, how they treat others, their words and actions and many more. I have been disappointed so many times in my life by people I looked up to but I totally understand cos no one is perfect. Today, I want to share a story of how disappointed I was in someone I met at some point in my life.
So, this person wasn’t really someone I looked up to but he was someone I could learn a lot from and I was really open to learn. If you know me, you know I always set boundaries and once it’s about business, it’s business. I met this person over a year ago when I was working on a project with some friends. This person had experience in what we were doing so we decided to seek help. For a start, he made it look like he was ready to help us but it wasn’t the case.
He would say this today and tomorrow he goes to tell someone another thing. It even got to a time he told us if we couldn’t handle the project we should give it to him to give to his siblings. This came as a shock to all of us but we decided to let it pass. As time went by, his true colors came to light. He would always say no if we wanted to take steps with our project but he would be pushing others , especially his family to do better than us.

Eventually, he made it look like we were competing with us so we decided to stop reaching out to him. Today, he doesn’t even speak to us but out of respect we do go to him sometimes. However, I personally have lost all respect I’ve had for him, not just because of this but because of so many other things I’ve seen him do and say. This isn’t someone I would even wish to learn anything from anymore because he’s not a man worthy of being looked up to or learning from. But yeah, life keeps going on and we keep pushing for the very best with or without his help. 👏
