In todays world , being emotionally intelligent is a necessity. No matter how you are going to develop your emotional intelligence, you should do it because not having emotional intelligence will leave you neck deep in trouble or bad decisions all the time.
We all have heard the word emotional intelligence but I’d like to believe most of us don’t comprehend the whole concept so allow me to enlighten you. Basically, emotional intelligence is having the ability to comprehend, control and use your emotions the right way. Now the question is, how many of us manage and use our emotions the right way?
No one is perfect and we are all bound to fall short at some point in our lives but one thing I’ll tell you today is, never act out of character no matter the situation. From my experience so far, it will interest you to know that there are people out there watching your every move , planning and plotting just to trigger you to act out of character towards their actions. Then , they would finally be able to label you as that kind of person. So, I’ll hold your hand while telling you this, always keep your composure.
Having emotions is very valid but the problem usually comes in when we are not able to manage our emotions well. And the situation gets worse when decide to make important decisions while our emotions are at their peak. That’s like signing up for a death sentence without even knowing. We all know how they say guys make rash decisions when they are trying to woo a woman and we all know how it ends.
Decisions usually should be taken with a clear mind. Nothing should be able to cloud your judgment in such cases such that you will be able to make the right decision. I’ve actually made a lot of bad decisions when I was both happy and angry and I can tell you some of them ended up pretty badly. So now, I always make sure to have a clear head before making decisions and today, I can say I have little to no trouble in all my endeavors when it comes to my emotions.
Personally, I believe today’s generation makes their anger get the best of then and in those moments, things happen that can’t be reversed. I have this friend with anger issues and this person always makes bad decisions in the moment when their anger levels are high. At the end of the day, this same person will sit down and regret whatever they did or said . But guess what, they still repeat the same cycle again. So now, who do we blame if something should go terribly wrong?
Emotional intelligence might look like something that doesn’t matter but it actually does, a lot. And I’d rather you invest so much into being emotionally intelligent now than ever because your emotions can make or break you.
