Sign language lessonYesterday, I had an amazing day volunteering from morning until 3 PM! We enjoyed a hands-on sign language lesson at a fun sign language circle event. It was incredible to see how quickly the kids picked it up! Some of the parents are deaf, and their three children can hear, so their conversations flowed between sign and spoken language. It felt like a family raising their kids in English and Japanese. It was a great reminder that sign language is truly a beautiful language! 🎵

Gardening update on Jun 1st, 2025Gardening and tidying up the garden are enjoyable activities for me, and they really help me relax. I feel lucky to have even a small garden, especially since some folks in Osaka don’t have one. My mother’s hydrangeas are starting to bloom, bringing such a lovely splash of color to the garden this time of year. I’m also excited that the mountain grapes we planted last year will bear fruit for the first time! There are so many berries; I can’t wait to soak them in liqueur to make some delicious fruit wine. Plus, I planted a branch of an emperor dahlia that my uncle gave me, which is supposed to grow over 4 meters tall! I’m really looking forward to watching it thrive.

While it’s great that my financial situation is improving and I know what I need to work on, I can’t shake the feeling that without a clear goal in life, it’s hard to stay motivated. Spending time with my mom, who has asthma and often coughs, can be a little tough. I care about her so much, but I sometimes find it challenging to navigate that situation for too long. I’m just trying to find a balance haha So, gardening helps! :)
