Most of you may know that coffee is a religion in my home and we seek especially for a good coffee. And good coffee usually needs some good equipment.
I brew filter coffee in a Hario V60 which is maybe the easiest way to brew good coffee. You just need this cone holder and some paper filters and you are ready to go. The cone holders are mainly two types - plastic or ceramic. The first are harder to break while the other are prettier and easier to clean, while not so durable.
And as you can see from this photo, I and my wife achieved the almlst impossible task to break our plaatic V60 in two places. But it still works and brews amazing coffee!
It was last week when my wife decided that it was time for a change… It was not that needed, but it is really good! Let me introduce, the Hario V60 drip decanter!
This tool looks very much like a Chemex, but instead of the big double folded paper filters uses Hario V60 paper filters. Another difference is that the wooden part for holding is now made from rubber - way easier to wash and maintain clean.
Paper filters are held by a plastic(again) part which is dishwasher safe and you can as well remove the filter away quite easily. The only hazard is braking the glass jug… and I mean that it is a real hazard in my family, but let’s hope that it will live a good long life!
And the Hario V60 drip decanted will definitely need some good coffee beans! Recently a friend of mine brought me a handful of Geisha coffee beans, which he brought back from a work trip to Germany. And they are some extraordinary beans! Do you know the tale of “Jack and the Beanstalk”? I felt the same excitement like Jack did in the tale. 😁
Do you see the size of them? It may be a bit difficult when you cannot compare them to some other, so here you are!
They are just… Massive! And they have a heavenly scent. Some heavily fermented dark fruits. I can feel some cognac influence, or maybe some liqueur vibes. Cannot wait to grind, brew and taste them!
And, yeah… the Hario dripper looks amazing! It’s quite massive, capable of holding upto 4 servings. I may try to brew also some tea in it. It will surely work well, but now to the coffee itself.
You use the same technique as the other V60 brewers. It just comes in a relatively different shape. I think that this product isn’t that popular. In various websites it is on discount, for the same price that my wife paid for it, about $30, and most of the places have a regular price of about $50-$60. This makes me think that not many people want it. 🤷🏻
I like a lot the way coffee looks inside it. And it works just as expected. Only thing is making sure that you don’t pour boiling water over the precious coffee beans, because you will roast them and your coffee will become way too bitter.
And now it is officially time to enjoy this Geisha beauty.
A lot of ripe fruits, jasmine and delicate sweetness. You just cannot get enough of this coffee variety… ever! If it only wasn’t that expensive…
That’s for today… see you soon(probably) with some good and tasty beans.
Bye! Have a coffeelicious weekend!
And Happy Easter to those, who celebrate it!
