The Value of Connection: Web3 is Human Tech (@crimsonclad⁩, Hive Blockchain hive.io)

Today at Web3Amsterdam (March 14, 2025) https://web3amsterdam.com, I listened to @crimsonclad, and let me tell you, she made blockchain sound fun! She started by admitting she was just a regular person when she first got into crypto in 2016. No tech background, no Web3 knowledge, just someone who suddenly thought, "Wait, why don’t I own my own data?" That question led her into the blockchain world, where she found Hive! A blockchain designed for social interaction, content monetization, and giving Big Tech a run for its money.
One of her key points was that where people gather, markets form. Makes sense, right? If people can sell NFTs of pixelated ducks, then clearly we can rethink how online economies work. But the early days of "social media on the blockchain" got a little crazy. Some projects told people to sell shares of themselves to their friends, cash out, and disappear rich. Surprisingly, that did not go well.
Hive, though, is different. No pre-mined tokens, no hidden funds for some crypto elites, just a real decentralized network. It actually started because the community broke away from an older blockchain to create something fairer. Basically, a blockchain rebellion, but without pitchforks. Another big topic was data ownership and digital freedom. @crimsonclad made it clear: our online activity is worth a lot, but right now, big companies profit from it while we get nothing. Web3 changes that. Instead of being the product, we can take control of our data and decide how we use it. The best part? She wasn’t trying to sell anything. She just said, "Use this open-source tech and stop getting ripped off by Web2." Hive was built to make blockchain actually usable. No need to approve a transaction every time you do something. Just fast, smooth, and built for real-world use.
Honestly, it was one of the most down-to-earth crypto talks I’ve heard. And any speaker who can make decentralization sound exciting deserves some credit. 🚀
