A little while ago for my birthday my wife bought tickets for the Lion King musical in Toronto. We typically go to the theater a couple of times per year and neither of us had see that one so we took advantage of its limited showing time and off we went.
We hit heavy traffic coming into the city, as usual and as expected. Some things never change. There was a Maple Leafs hockey game that night so that always adds a little more congestion to the highway, though I don't think that it really matters.
The city-scape driving in has changed pretty significantly over the past few decades, with new tall skyscraper condo buildings going up every year.
I remember what seems like not too long ago, when there were no condos on the outskirts of town at all. Then later the first few started being built and all of the talk about how the world changes so quickly.
Then came all of the hoopla when even more started going up in the area, this time closer to the water and in front of the originals. They blocked the early condos view of the water so naturally those people weren't happy. Timing is everything I guess.
Now there are so many all over the place it looks like a completely different scene then it did back then.
I always like seeing the CN Tower when we go to Toronto. Its such an iconic building for the city. It's not a pretty building but it's distinct in its character and quintessential Toronto.
Anyway, we had dinner at an Italian restaurant when we arrived, at a place that we had eaten at before. It was frigidly cold that day with a high wind chill so I didn't take any photos outside. I remember passing several interesting sights and statues and picturesque city-scapes thinking that they would be great for this future blog post, but it was too cold to stop and freeze even for the briefest of seconds. Fumbling with gloves and a phone wasn't happening that day unfortunately. All of my photos were taken from our moving vehicle. My wife drove so I was able to operate the camera safely.
The musical ended up being really good. It was targeted for a younger audience and there were a ton of kids there that night, but it was enjoyable as an adult as well. It was the same story as the Disney film with some deviations but all and all we enjoyed it. I don't have much more to say to bore the life out of you so I'll end it there.
