I think if we had planned the trip to Bolivia in much more detail, it probably wouldn't have been as great as it was. I really liked the idea of having an itinerary subject to what we felt like doing at the time, because almost everything we did was improvisation with very good results. During our stop in the town of Samaipata we didn't have much of an idea of which places to go and explore, but the options were not long in coming. One of them was to go and do some trekking in the most special place in the area, and when we saw the location on the map, we quickly understood why 😃.

Throughout our trip through northern Argentina and later in Bolivia, we had the opportunity to visit a number of accommodations. Due to our travel budget, we always looked for the cheapest option and even camped to cut costs. However, as we neared the end of our trip, we were feeling comfortable with all our savings, mainly because gas and food were so cheap, so we were able to treat ourselves to a little luxury by staying at a beautiful hostel. It was located high on the mountain, from where we had great views of Samaipata and also enjoyed a very hearty breakfast 😃.

I wanted to write a title that didn't incite illegality, but I couldn't think of any other title because that's exactly what I want to talk about. I am not saying that everyone should do this on their trip to Bolivia, but I want to tell about my experience during my stay in this country. In all the nomadic travel I had done so far, I had always travelled by bus or plane, but the stretch I did sharing a car added the worry of having to refuel regularly. In the week we were in Argentina there was no problem with this, but when we were finally in Bolivian territory we had to make some contrivances to be able to fill up our tank at a good price 🙃.

It was the eleventh day of our trip through Bolivia but it felt as if we had been travelling in that country for a much longer time. We had become somewhat accustomed to the arid and beautiful landscapes and the cheap food on every corner. I think that if this trip had been a bit more planned, it wouldn't have been as much fun as it was doing it on the spur of the moment. I didn't have many days left before I had to return to Argentina, so I was making the most of my days as a tourist. Our next planned stop the same morning we woke up was in Samaipata, when we had to travel more than any other day of the trip 🙃.

The fact that Bolivia was considerably cheaper than Argentina allowed my budget to cover a few more things. For an improvised trip, everything was going pretty well. During our second night in Sucre, we decided that it would be good to take a night walk in the city to discover what the place had to offer at that time. Luckily, we found a very good tourist offer that kept our budget within a reasonable range 😅.

Besides having seen many new and beautiful landscapes in Bolivia, other everyday things also managed to surprise me. Getting to know the culture and how they do things in another country was very interesting, and I learned a lot about how our neighbours live their lives. In addition to all the sightseeing we did, getting to know the local gastronomic customs was also great, and this carried over to what we saw in the supermarkets. And there I was as a tourist, taking pictures of all the products that caught my eye on the shelves 😅.
