I created this digital art titled Popcorn Dream. I often have vivid dreams that are usually connected to my real life. However, I sometimes experience this kind of psychedelic dream.

Most of my dreams are lucid dreams. Lucid dreaming is a state in which you become aware that you're dreaming while still in the dream. This awareness often allows you to control or influence the dream’s events, environment, or your actions. It usually occurs during REM sleep and can feel vivid and lifelike. Some people practice techniques to induce lucid dreams for creativity, problem-solving, or self-exploration.

Sometimes, I get tired of having lucid dreams because I have to think clearly even during sleep. Even after waking up, they often stay connected to my real life.

But what about this kind of psychedelic dream? It’s a bit different from my usual dreams. Still, at the end of the psychedelic dream, I also realize that I’m dreaming. I actually enjoy fantasy-type dreams more than realistic ones.

In Popcorn Dream, popcorn in a big container is just popping out. But it’s not only popcorn coming out, there’s a pink ice bar, butterflies, a single roller skate, ice cream with corn, a mushroom, a sneaker, sakura flowers, a macaron, fireworks, jellyfish, the moon, a cloud, a rainbow, and four goldfish. Almost everything is pink. The eye that witnesses everything is also pink.

A French bulldog is doing its daily yoga pose beside it. A lab puppy is trying to eat the popcorn. A husky puppy is simply observing. A frog is also watching while reading a pink book.

I can usually analyze whether my dreams are realistic. However, this type of psychedelic dream needs deeper interpretation. There’s always a small hint. I can find traces of reality in the psychedelic dream. In this one, the French bulldog, husky, and lab are real. All of them were my dogs. The Frenchie and husky have already passed away, but the lab is my current dog. That was my clue to realize it was a dream! Soon, I’m planning to create another psychedelic dream as well.

ポップコーンの夢というタイトルのデジタルアートを創りました。わたしは、現実と繋がった鮮明な夢を頻繁にみます。そんな中、ときどき、サイケデリックな夢をみます。

ほとんどの自分の夢は明晰夢です。明晰夢は、夢を見ている最中に「これは夢だ」と自覚する状態のことです。自覚することで、夢の中の出来事や環境、自分の行動をある程度コントロールできます。主にレム睡眠中に起こるのだそうで、非常に鮮明で現実のように感じます。創造性の向上や問題解決、自己探求のために、明晰夢を意図的に見る練習をする人もいますね。

ときおり、現実にかなり近い見分けのつかない夢を見るのは疲れるので眠った気がしません。起きた後、やはり現実と繋がっていることに気がつきます。

それでは、サイケデリックな夢のときは明晰夢なのかというと、普段の夢の見かたとは少し違います。サイケデリックな夢の場合は、最終的に「あっ、これは夢だな」と気がづきます。こうしたファンタジーな夢は、現実的な夢よりも楽しめます。

ポップコーンの夢の中で、よくある大きな箱に入ったポッポコーンがはじけました。ポップコーンだけではなく、いろいろなものがはじけ飛んでいます。ピンク色をしたアイスバー、蝶々、片方だけのローラースケート、アイスクリーム、きのこ、スニーカー、桜の花びら、マカロン、花火、くらげ、月、雲、虹と金魚４匹。ほとんどピンクだらけです。こちらを見ている目もピンク色をしています。

いつもの現実的な夢を分析するのは割と簡単でが、こういったサイケデリックな夢を分析するのには少し時間がかかります。ただ、だいたい小さなヒントが隠れています。サイケデリックな夢の中に現実を見ることができます。このアートの中のフレブル、ハスキーとラブラドールは、すべてわたしの現実に飼っている（飼っていた）犬たちです。フレブルとハスキーはもう亡くなっています。ラブラドールは現在飼っている犬です。これが夢だと気づくヒントです。近々、また別の夢のアートをつくろうと考えています。
