Thoughts from a dirty car window

Cruising through the Alps more than often feels a lot like a real life Bob Ross painting. 'Just picture a nice little tree over here'. A little castle in the distance with its tower peeking through the mist. Mountains peeking out of everywhere and clouds being sticked against the wall.
The cool thing about all of these mountains is that something new is around every corner. And... when being somewhere in the back of the car, that means there is enough to look around

A hint of snow fell overnight in the whole region, giving even more contrast to the whole brown gray setting. Daylight savings had passed so the ride through the valley was alot earlier than anticipated. Or was it a lot later even? The clock didn’t speak any other words, just the endless countdown towards on the long way home
They always say that the road towards your destination feels longer than the way back. I totally disagree with that as on the road towards somewhere you are still looking forward to what you will be doing.
When you are on the way back, everything is already said and done and you are just working on getting back home. The ordinary stuff of the day is starting to call again. And while on the road towards your destination it is about forgetting 'the real world', the road back is about letting the grind slowly flow back into you.

Tranquility

Driving through the Alps just gives something tranquil about it. It always seems no one is in a rush on the mountain roads, which ofcourse ends the second you cross the German border.
People give each other way, and the smell of fresh bread and coffee enter the mind as well. Or...is this all in the mind

It was literally possible to see at what height the snowfall shifted to rain. In the evenings the snow would come closerby and during the day the snow line would pull further up again.
As if it was the tide of the sky with the snow creeping down and later on pulling back up again. The white fighting the brown gray again.
The road heading towards normal life was taking the turn around the mountain. As the road became flatter and flatter leaving the mountains also the memories came back in.

It was time for a next coffee before the road continued
