Tool is not only a band that changed my life with this album but with the sound and lyrics that followed in all of the albums after. I actually heard the Undertow album before this one but both albums blew me away. My love for the band didnt stop with these 2 albums considering I met one of my best friends and a girl I used to really like through our mutual admiration of the band's third album Aenima. The song stinkfist was mainly what our first conversation was all about. At the time I didnt understand what the song was actually about. As soon as I got it my mind was blown and I had an even greater appreciation of the music and loved them even more.

I was 14 years old when I first heard this wall of sound blasting through speakers in a friend's room. To say my life and outlook on music would forever change is an understatement. This wonderful, loud, and crazy artistry of music began to form who I would become upon its explosion into the room and my ears. My friend's room could barely contain the massive well constructed guitar riffs and my mind was unable to comprehend what was happening. I had heard heavy metal music before but when Trent began to sing I knew this was a whole new level of music I would love for a long time. His words were compelling yet angsty enough to speak to me exactly the way I felt when I was a teenager. The very first lyric I heard was - "Gave up trying to figure it out..." This was a daily thought for me at the time. Mind you I wasn't typically a moody child or teen but Nine Inch Nails' music seemed to coincide well with me when i was feeling down or depressed.

The Hampsterdance Song. In my research into the history of memes I read about the first internet meme sensation back in 2000. I have never heard of this meme so naturally I was curious. The Boomtang Boys produced it and used a hook sped up from the Roger Miller song "whistle stop." This song was originally featured in the 1973 Disney Film Robin Hood, which I have never seen either. Back in 2000 I was not aware of what a meme was. I later started noticing them around 2007 to 2008. The meme started as a web page in 1998 created by Canadian art student Deidre La carte. Originally the site was a single page made up of four hamsters dancing in an animated gif to the looked track. From August 98 to March 99 the site received about 800 hits but within 4 days had quickly grown to 60,000 hits. This is a prime example of how something catchy and infectious on the internet can spread to the masses and bring some laughter and joy to those seeking these basic human needs. DISCOVERYAbout a year and a half ago I discovered a community of people who believe the earth is flat. My girlfriend noticed a friend on Facebook commenting about this theory and quickly started researching the topic.At first I didn't think much of it and sort of dismissed her on this for a while. But she started getting to know some of the people talking about other topics such as life, technology, and some conspiracy theories.
