Hello to all the friends of Open Mic, a wonderful community of great talents in the world of music around the world. This time I want to share with you a cover of one of my favorite songs by the American rock band Linkin Park, played on my electric guitar. The song "Crawling" was recorded for their debut album, Hybrid Theory, in 2000 and written by all the band members. The song was released as the second single from Hybrid Theory on April 2, 2001, by Warner Bros. Records. That same month, the song "Crawling" by Linkin Park is an important message that reflects a person's internal struggle and emotional anguish. The lyrics describe an experience of pain and confusion, where the protagonist feels like his skin is crawling. Hence the expression in the chorus, "Crawling in my skin," which is closely related to this week's theme chosen for the Open Mic community. This metaphor can be interpreted as a feeling of discomfort that invades a person when facing problems such as anxiety or depression. Wounds that don't heal is another phrase from the song and can be described as persistent traumas or emotional issues that can't be easily resolved.
Fear is a theme in the song, described as a force that pulls down the individual ("Fear is how I fall"), which can be interpreted as fear being both a cause and a consequence of one's mental state.
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming, confusing
This lack of self control I fear is never ending
Controlling
I can't seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced)
(That there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
Discomfort, endlessly has pulled itself upon me
Distracting, reacting
Against my will I stand beside my own reflection
It's haunting
How I can't seem
To find myself again
My walls are closing in
(Without a sense of confidence, I'm convinced)
(That there's just too much pressure to take)
I've felt this way before
So insecure
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing what is real
Crawling in my skin
These wounds, they will not heal
Fear is how I fall
Confusing, confusing what is real
There's something inside me that pulls beneath the surface
Consuming (confusing what is real)
This lack of self control I fear is never ending
Controlling (confusing what is real)
