Hello friends!. It is always a joy for me to visit the Architecture and Design community of Hive and make some contribution of the places I know in my day to day. This time I want to present again a Catholic temple in the city of Caracas, this parish is called Our Lady of Guadalupe and is located in Las Mercedes, Municipality Baruta and is one of the most popular in the area, as it also has a school in its facilities and spaces where different activities take place. I visited it because we had to sing mass, and we were pleasantly surprised by the acoustics.
¡Hola amigos!. Siempre es una alegría para mí visitar la comunidad de Arquitectura y Diseño de Hive y hacer algún aporte de los lugares que conozco en mi día a día. En esta ocasión quiero presentarles nuevamente un templo católico de la ciudad de Caracas, esta Parroquia se llama Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y está ubicada en Las Mercedes, Municipio Baruta y es una de las más populares en la zona, ya que también cuenta con un colegio en sus instalaciones y espacios donde se realizan diferentes actividades. Yo la visité porque teníamos que cantar la misa, y vaya que la acústica nos sorprendió gratamente.
The church is very elevated with respect to the main avenue, and to enter you have to climb the stairs in front of the facade or the side ramp. Before entering the temple we can appreciate a beautiful garden, with flowers and bushes in the center. To the sides there are two roofed corridors that make us feel cool. In my opinion, the external design is very simple, from a distance it looks like a simple little house with white walls and orange roof, but do not be fooled, because inside it is one of the most luxurious churches in the Venezuelan capital.
La iglesia se encuentra muy elevada respecto a la avenida principal, y para entrar hay que subir las escalaras frente a la fachada o la rampa lateral. Antes de ingresar al templo podemos apreciar un hermoso jardín, con flores y arbustos en el centro. Hacia los lados hay dos pasillos techados que nos hace sentir frescos. En mi opinión, el diseño externo es muy sencillo, desde lo lejos parece una simple casita de paredes blancas y techo naranja, pero no hay que dejarse engañar, porque por dentro es una de las iglesias más lujosas de la capital venezolana.
From the moment you enter the church you find a very spacious place, and it does not give the impression of being so from the outside. Many details in wood color on the ceiling with some columns that combine perfectly with the color of the benches for the parishioners, which also stand out for having the walls and ceiling painted in white, some columns in gray and large windows with colorful religious art and geometrically located in key places to beautify and decorate. The image of the Virgin of Guadalupe, which gives the church its name, can be seen in the background.
Desde que entras a la iglesia te encuentras con un lugar muy amplio, y no da la impresión de ser así desde afuera. Muchos detalles en color madera en el techo con con algunas columnas que combinan a perfección con el color de los bancos para los feligreses, que también resaltan por tener las paredes y el techo pintados en color blanco, algunas columnas en gris y ventanales con arte religioso muy colorido y ubicados geométricamente en lugares clave para embellecer y adornar. Se nota al fondo la imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe que da nombre a la iglesia.
As in all churches, the place that impresses me the most is the altar. When you get there you discover that there is a dome, but you can't see it from far away because it is hidden behind an arch. The back wall is made of stone and looks beautiful and elegant, especially because of the golden details and the sculptures of angels. As I told you before, a picture of the Virgin of Guadalupe is the one in the center, unlike most of the churches where you can see a crucified Jesus, I love it when some of them totally change the classic design of the temples.
Como en todas las iglesias, el lugar que más me impresiona es el altar. Cuando llegas ahí descubres que sí hay una cúpula, solo que no se aprecia desde lejos porque está escondida detrás de un arco. La pared del fondo es de piedra y luce hermosa y elegante, especialmente por detalles dorados y las esculturas de ángeles. Como les dije antes, un cuadro de la Virgen de Guadalupe es la que va en el centro, a diferencia de la mayoría de las iglesias donde se aprecia un Jesús crucificado, me encanta cuando algunas cambian totalmente el diseño clásico de los templos.
At the end of the side aisles there are two important spaces that accompany the altar in the center, dedicated exclusively to the storage of sacred relics such as the Blessed Sacrament and for the intimate prayer of the people who come there. To the left is the Blessed Sacrament with a background of stones similar to the altar space accompanied by many religious sculptures and gilded details. To the right the sculptures are of the Virgin Mary in various forms, highlighting in the background the Virgin of Coromoto who is the Patroness of Venezuela with a spectacular black and white checkered floor.
Al final de los pasillos laterales hay dos espacios importantes que acompañan al altar en el centro, dedicados exclusivamente para guardar las reliquias sagradas como el Santísimo y para la oración íntima de las personas que se acercan hasta ahí. A la izquierda se encuentra el Santísimo Sacramento con un fondo de piedras parecido al espacio del altar acompañado de muchas esculturas religiosas y detalles dorados. A la derecha las esculturas son de la Virgen María en varias de sus formas, resaltando al fondo la Virgen de Coromoto que es la Patrona de Venezuela con un espectacular piso de cuadros blancos y negros.

Already from the altar you can turn towards the exit and realize that although it is not one of those old churches with colonial or gothic designs, they still took care to put an organ and space for music in the upper part, that is a great detail, in fact we shared the music with the singers of the church, and in times of lent we did not have a complete repertoire, so we complemented each other, but the sound does not escape, definitely the ceiling height makes it perfect for the freshness and travel of the sound waves... Ya desde el altar se puede voltear hacia la salida y darse cuenta de que aunque no es una de esas iglesias antiguas con diseños coloniales o góticos igual se encargaron de poner un órgano y espacio para la música en la parte superior, ese es un gran detalle, de hecho compartimos la música con los cantantes de la iglesia, y es que en tiempos de cuaresma no teníamos un repertorio completo, así que nos complementamos, pero vaya que el sonido no se escapa, definitivamente la altura del techo lo hace perfecto para la frescura y el viaje de las ondas sonoras...
