Another Sublime Sunday, one that happens to coincide with the first day of Holy Week, making it all the more special for a believer in the Catholic faith like myself. These past few days, my blog has been dedicated to memories; it was exactly two years ago that my choral group went on a concert tour across Spain, and I have been reliving every city I visited there through my posts. As you know, Sundays are when I truly feel inspired; and since I am recounting the places I visited in chronological order, I am delighted to write today about Comillas, a beautiful place in Cantabria that I have always described as the most beautiful place in the world.

I had never read anything about Comillas, nor watched a single video, in my entire life, so I simply let myself be swept away by the beauty of the place. We were traveling from Oviedo, and after an hour on the road, rivers and lakes began to appear, until we finally drew close to the sea. It was a moment that truly took me by surprise; and believe it or not, due to time and logistical constraints, we didn't stop anywhere in the town itself, but headed straight for the Pontifical University of Comillas. Nevertheless, I managed to capture these images from the window of the bus. I’ve already shared the very best ones in the past, but I still had these left to complement my words today...

I wanted to share this video because, on that day, something happened that changed my life forever. I experienced one of those moments of absolute happiness, a moment in which thoughts, pain, and bad memories simply vanished. Just as the lyrics of this song, which you can hear in the video, "Let My Love Be Heard", describe, we were simply a collection of souls, connected and focused on a single shared goal. Not everyone perceived that concert quite the way those of us at the very front and center, close to our director, did; yet, for some reason, this magnificent concert hall, the most elegant we encountered in Spain, left its main doors open. And throughout the entire performance, as the most sublime music filled the air, I was able to gaze out at the sea and watch as the world outside gradually darkened with the falling of night.

As I said before, this concert transformed me. That day, one chapter ended and a new one began. It happened on March 26, 2024, and the feeling has stayed with me ever since. Life is truly beautiful, and I decided not to mar it with my negative thoughts. Every day, something happens that displeases me, but it no longer affects me; I have already known pain, and I always know that things could be worse. Yet I have also discovered the tools to cope with it—there is faith, music, love, nature, and all those forces that coexist with us. In Comillas, I found happiness; its beauty permeated my being, and I resolved to hold onto that feeling from that moment on.

Pontifical University of Comillas, Cantabria:

This image of the Pontifical University of Comillas captures the very spot where we sang; that main door, in particular, is the one someone left open that day while we were performing our concert. Naturally, since I was working at the time, I didn't take a photo of the scenery I could admire from where I stood; however, I’ve shared a photo below—one I took hours earlier from the outside—so you can get an idea of the view I enjoyed. The University sits atop a hill, and there was absolutely nothing standing between the sea and my eyes... It was a truly once-in-a-lifetime moment. I don't know if I’ll ever have the chance to visit Comillas again, but to those of you reading this: do not miss the opportunity to go yourselves. Comillas is a perfect blend of nature and elegance—of the sea and architecture—and, quite honestly, a paradise on Earth 🙏

*This was the landscape I watched turn to dusk throughout the entire concert... Without a doubt, one of the most sublime moments of my entire life*
