In honor of International Siblings Day

The above photo was taken around 1970, of my blended family

When my parents married in 1946, they each had 2 boys and girls by their first marriages, meaning that right off the bat they had 8 kids to deal with, daddies youngest was just a baby.
In 1947 my sister Linda was born, and the Dr's told mama she could no longer conceive.
8 yrs went by with my parents enjoying the freedom of not having to worry about getting pregnant.
In 1955, mama went to the Dr to see why she was gaining weight.
Surprise!

Years and conflicts, deaths and losses later

So now here it is, something like 20 yrs after this last shot, my siblings, both half and whole by my mother posed together

One of my siblings in the last image is no longer living, Nancy will be 90 this Oct, Mama is gone from this world (but not our hearts) and time keeps dropping losses in my lap.

My cousin Vickie has had a stroke I just found out.
She seems more comfortable today. No real changes in her arousal. She was off the ventilator when we got there this morning and tolerated being off all day and was only supported with a little humidified Oxygen. Keep the prayers coming.
When you are a 67 yr old baby, seems I should not be surprised by this, but when we are riding the sand down in the hourglass, it is difficult being aware of the passage of time.
Siblings Day is a holiday recognized annually in some parts of the United States and Canada on April 10, and as Brothers and Sisters Day on May 31 in Europe.
Unlike Mother's Day and Father's Day, it is not federally recognized in the United States, though the Siblings Day Foundation is working to change this.
Since 1998, the governors of 49 states have officially issued proclamations to recognize Siblings Day in their state.
Siblings Days are celebrated also in India.
The Hindu holiday of Raksha Bandhan, which is the oldest festival in this category, also celebrates the bond of brothers and sisters.
