It’s been quite a tough journey from January up until now, no doubt. There are things that have stressed me in different areas; physically and mentally. But amidst the tension and stress, I can’t fail to acknowledge the numerous blessings God have bestowed on me.
I’m thankful, first, for the gift of life and sound health, sometimes I take these things for granted— the good health my family and I enjoy. Many people have lost their lives or health, even when they didn’t deserve it.
About a month ago, my mom and I were talking over the phone and she brought up a heartbreaking story of one of her long time friends—Mrs Martins.
I’ve always known Mrs Martins as someone who never joked with her health, she frequented the hospital for the tiniest concern, she lived by the motto "Health is Wealth". She was very particular about the meals she ate, she exercised regularly to avoid age-related sicknesses. But in February, she went to the hospital and was diagnosed with stage-four cancer; no one saw that coming, even the hospitals she frequently visited. Currently she’s undergoing chemotherapy and we are all praying and hoping a miracle happens. There are people who even took better care of their health than I did and yet are in very bad situations, battling for their lives.
So yes, life and sound health are the first things I’m grateful for.
Another thing I’m thankful for is the strength of my marriage, I recently just celebrated my wedding 8th anniversary. Marriage isn’t easy honestly and there is no manual on the right way to go about it. But in the midst of it all, I’ve been fortunate with the best and most loving partner. We’ve always stuck together, celebrating the little wins and that’s something I can never take for granted.
I’m also thankful for my daughter’s growth and the chance to be her role model, watching her grow and blossom into a beautiful, kind and intelligent girl has been one of my greatest joys as a mother. Seeing her become her own little person and knowing she’s learning from me is a daily miracle I’m deeply thankful for.
And lastly, for the strength that came through challenges, there were really tough days that could have broken me, but instead they taught me patience, resilience and refined me as woman, wife, mother and daughter.
I’m inviting
