(Photo by Morgan Vander Hart on Unsplash)I know a lot of people are bored right now and a little pissed off about having to stay home especially when St Patricks Day was gonna be a great excuse to get out and hang with friends. But then that whole socially responsible feeling weighs down on our shoulders and if we prepped early enough and have some food stored up without having to wait in hour long lines at Costco (Have you seen that?!) then we are sitting at home bored, maybe even lonely.
We have an acre, how many trees and shrubs can you fit on an acre before shading the whole thing out? Not sure but I think I’ve got room to add at least these… I hope. GardenGoodsDirect.com has a pretty good selection of plants I’m looking for and so I have a list of “want to buy’s” with them too. They include:
Maybe grasses are trendy right now or maybe they’re really just timeless. They fill in spaces, add movement and color, and they look good through winter too. I’ve got some but not enough to create the images of meadow gardens I’m always pinning on Pinterest.
Photo by Matheus Frade on UnsplashWe all have that funny little pestering feeling inside us. The one that we can probably blame for at least some of the unhappiness in our lives. That feeling of, “I’m made to do something with my life.” Maybe it sits back there saying, “you need to be doing more”, or “you’re supposed to be extraordinary,” or “there’s something meaningful that you need to accomplish.”
This was our old garden in March right before we sold the house. This is where I fell in love with gardening. It started with vegetables then herbs and fruit and flowers… but I was running out of room and we couldn’t afford the house payment without roommates. Housing is expensive in the middle of Boulder, Colorado. We were starting a family and we needed to move on.
