Dada Says No, But...

I had my face washed and my feet too. Well, Mum did, and she blow-dried them a bit. We hopped onto the bed when Dada came. He said I would not sleep with them that night. I couldn't believe my ears, and I gave him that "are you serious" look.
/
"Am I really hearing that from you, Dada?" I was screaming deep within. It saddened me so, yet I still hoped I just misheard him.
Maybe he was only kidding, I thought. "Yongi, go sleep on the couch now." Oh gosh, there he goes again.
/
I ignored him, even pretending to have sensed something from the other room, and listened intently. Maybe he will stop talking soon enough, I told myself, still looking the other way.
/
But Dada kept repeating I should sleep on the floor or in the living room. I was hurt. I have always spent the night beside Mummy, but now he is trying to prevent me from doing so.
Why?
I honestly dunno.
Mum was silent, probably waiting to see what I'd do next. She often let me decide for myself, and I love her all the more. So I kept my cool and stayed quiet, thinking about what could have gotten to him this time. I was behaving well, for all I know, and this is my place too.
//
And just when I thought all was well, Dada spoke again, telling me to get off the bed. Quietly, I left Mum's side and moved away a bit, wishing he would shut up already because I was starting to get stressed.
/
Thankfully, he went on silent mode. His attention shifted to his phone, and he finally forgot about me. So I sneaked into mummy's side of the bed and we went on to have a lovely snooze that night.
And Dada?
He told us he had a nightmare. In his dreams, he was out of air and couldn't breathe. When he woke up, he was so thirsty because he slept with his mouth open, and it went dry, lol!
Well, he still asks me to get off the bed every night, but I'm my mummy's baby, so maybe one of these days, he will say a word no more.🐶
