Recently, the third season of Reacher, one of Prime's more popular series, ended its broadcast. Like before, it is an adaptation of one of Jim Grant's books (he wrote under the pseudonym Lee Child), which make up the Reacher series. The series consists of 29 books and a collection of short stories. The first part was released in March 1997, the last in October last year. The new part is to debut in early November this year. Before Prime, there were two adaptation attempts in which Tom Cruise played the role of Jack Reacher. It was one of the strangest casting decisions in the history of cinema. Although Tom Cruise supposedly has the perfect body for fighting (according to my buddy, who practiced BJJ for a long time and likes watching martial arts), he does not fit Reacher's figure at all. I will say more, reading the description of Severuse Snape in the Harry Potter book, I see more similarities to the actor Paap Essiedu. Even the best make-up artist can't make a short guy like Cruise grow almost twice as tall and bulk up even more. Alan Ritchson, who gained popularity mainly thanks to Reacher, is a different story. The actor also wants to become Batman. He's so determined that he's willing to play him for free. He'd be a good fit. Despite his size, his jaw is perfect for this role (he usually wears a mask, and the lower part of his face is the only part he can use to show emotions). Apart from that, he can also act. The scene where he was treated like a child for the first time and couldn't do anything about it made a big impression on me. You could see anger, a desire for revenge, but also a primal fear. I'm not surprised, Reacher hasn't met anyone who could do that yet.
The third season is the best so far. Although the finale was disappointing for me, it was the only episode I complained about. The first episode made me and my girlfriend literally jump on the bed with excitement. I won't spoil it for you, you have to see it. Great job in terms of building tension, directing, dialogue, idea. This last aspect wasn't that original, because I've seen this type of procedure a few times before, but none of them has affected me so much. I guessed during the screening that it probably looked like this, but I was so absorbed in the narrative and events that I completely forgot about it. Until the last dialogue, which went off like a bomb left in the middle of the room. And then it's not much worse!
In order not to spoil it for you, I will not mention the script for season 3. Instead, I will summarize the plot of the previous ones. They are so similar in terms of subject matter that it should be enough. The protagonist is a former military police officer. When he left his job, he became a vagabond who acts based on what he finds in his surroundings and has in his pocket, which is usually not much. In accordance with his mother's will, he uses his gift from God (a huge body, muscles, brain) for good purposes. That is, he helps those in need, catches criminals, etc. As I mentioned, Reacher is not just a mountain of muscles. Above all, he is intelligent, wise, empathetic, but also has his feet firmly on the ground. Like any charismatic strongman, Jack does not like being given orders. He knows how to obey, but he does not do it with a smile on his face.
There is also another reason why Alan Ritchson fits Batman. It's about his alter ego, Bruce Wayne - Reacher is equally charismatic and handsome. I can see it in the reactions of the women he flirts with and in my partner. We both praise the way relationships are conducted with visible erotic tension. This season, he's having an affair with Sonya. After the first interaction between them, I said to Asia: "You'll see, they'll end up in bed. Just look into her eyes to see that she'd love to eat him." Apart from Sonya and the two agents accompanying her, we'll once again see Frances Neagley, a soldier from Reacher's battalion. Frances and Sonya are a bit different from each other, but both are competent agents. The first one focuses more on cunning and quiet action, while the second prefers forceful solutions and knows how to "squeeze a guy by the balls", literally and figuratively. Just like Nicole Kidman in Lioness.
As for my favorite scenes, there were quite a few. This season was exceptionally effective, especially towards the end. My partner and I both think that they could have let some things go at the end (especially since they clearly shortened them, making one big mistake - the rolling into the water, which was definitely too soon). Reacher is pretty standard, every scene where he shows off his muscles, strength, or intellect is well-written and well-acted. Considering he rarely fails to use at least one of his attributes, there are quite a few. From conversations with Sonya, her experienced partner, and the son of one of the characters, to using his wits during arguments with Paulie. At first, I didn't like Sonya, thinking that the agent was faking it. After a few episodes, it turned out that her daredevil nature is not a mask. When necessary, the heroine knows where and how to hit someone in the head to achieve her goal. Then there were a few other scenes showing the strength of her character.
To sum up, Prime and MGM have given us another very good season. Now that a few days have passed since I wrote the introduction, I'm not sure about my opinion. I still think it's a very good season, but is it the best? I'll say this, I thought about it for two days in my free time and... In terms of action, it's the best, but when it comes to the script, even if it's worse than 1 and 2, it's not a particularly noticeable drop in quality. There were a few memorable scenes in S3, just like in the previous ones. If it weren't for the finale, for which we had slightly higher expectations, I probably wouldn't have such a dilemma. Either way, I recommend it. Reacher proves that you can create a very good series these days.

Mimo, że Tom Cruise posiada podobno idealne ciało do walk (opinia mojego kumpla, który długo ćwiczył BJJ i lubi oglądać sztuki walki), to zupełnie nie pasuje do sylwetki Reachera. Powiem więcej, czytając opis Severuse'a Snape'a w książce Harry Potter, dostrzegam więcej podobieństw do aktora Paapa Essiedu. Nawet najlepszy charakteryzator nie sprawi, że mikrus jak Cruise, urośnie niemal dwukrotnie i jeszcze bardziej zwiększy swoją masę. Co innego Alan Ritchson, który zyskał popularność głównie dzięki Reacherowi. Aktor chce też zostać Batmanem. Jest tak zdeterminowany, że jest gotów wcielić się w niego za darmo. Pasowałby do niego. Mimo swojej postury, jego szczęka perfekcyjnie sprawdzi się w tej roli (zwykle chodzi w masce, a dolna część twarzy to jedyny element, którym może pokazać emocje). Poza tym, potrafi też grać. Scena jak po raz pierwszy został potraktowany jak dziecko i totalnie nie mógł nic z tym zrobić, zrobiła na mnie duże wrażenie. Widać było po nim gniew, chęć zemsty, ale też pierwotny strach. Nie dziwię się, póki co Reacher nie spotkał nikogo, kto byłby w stanie to zrobić.
Trzeci sezon jest najlepszym z dotychczasowych. Co prawda finał był dla mnie rozczarowujący, ale to był jedyny epizod, na który narzekałem. Pierwszy odcinek sprawił, że ja i moja dziewczyna dosłownie podskoczyliśmy na łóżku z wrażenia. Nie będę Wam psuł wrażeń, musicie to zobaczyć. Świetna robota pod względem budowy napięcia, reżyserii, dialogów, pomysłu. Ten ostatni aspekt nie był aż tak oryginalny, bo widziałem tego typu zabieg już kilkukrotnie, ale jeszcze żaden z nich nie wpłynął na mnie tak bardzo. Domyślałem się podczas seansu, że tak to pewnie wyglądało, ale byłem tak pochłonięty narracją i wydarzeniami, że zupełnie o tym zapomniałem. Do ostatniego dialogu, który pierdolnął jak bomba zostawiona na środku pokoju. A dalej jest niewiele gorzej!
Żeby Wam tego nie zepsuć, nie będę wspominał o scenariuszu do 3 sezonu. Za to streszczę fabułę wcześniejszych. Te są do siebie tak bardzo podobne pod względem tematyki, że powinno wystarczyć. Protagonista to były oficer żandarmerii wojskowej. Gdy porzucił swoją pracę, stał się włóczęgą, który działa w oparciu o to, co znajdzie w otoczeniu i ma w kieszeni, czyli zazwyczaj niewiele. Zgodnie z wolą swojej mamy, wykorzystuje swój dar od Boga (olbrzymie ciało, mięśnie, mózg) w dobrych celach. Czyli pomaga potrzebującym, łapie przestępców itd. Jak już wspomniałem, Reacher to nie tylko góra mięśni. Jest przede wszystkim inteligentny, mądry, empatyczny, ale też twardo stąpają po ziemi. Jak każdy charyzmatyczny siłacz, Jack nie lubi gdy ktoś mu wydaje polecenia. Umie się podporządkować, ale nie robi tego z uśmiechem na twarzy.
Jest też jeszcze jeden powód, dla którego Alan Ritchson pasuje do Batmana. Chodzi o jego alter ego, Bruce'a Wayne'a - Reacher jest równie charyzmatyczny i przystojny. Widzę to po reakcjach kobiet, z którymi wchodzi w flirt oraz po mojej partnerce. Oboje zresztą chwalimy to, jak się prowadzi relacje z widocznym erotycznym napięciem. W tym sezonie romansuje z Sonyą. Już po pierwszej interakcji między nimi powiedziałem do Asi: "Zobaczysz, trafią do łóżka. Wystarczy jej popatrzeć w oczy, by zobaczyć że schrupałaby go z przyjemnością." Poza Sonyą i dwójką towarzyszących jej agentom, zobaczymy po raz kolejny Frances Neagley, żołnierkę z batalionu Reachera. Frances i Sonya trochę się od siebie różnią, ale obie to kompetentne agentki. Pierwsza stawia bardziej na spryt i ciche działanie, druga natomiast preferuje siłowe rozwiązania i umie "ścisnąć faceta za jaja", dosłownie i w przenośni. Tak jak Nicole Kidman w Lioness.
Jeśli chodzi o moje ulubione sceny, to trochę ich było. Ten sezon był wyjątkowo efektowny, zwłaszcza pod koniec. Oboje uważamy z moją partnerką, że mogli odpuścić pewne rzeczy pod koniec (tym bardziej, że ewidentnie je skrócili, popełniając jeden, duży błąd - chodzi o turlanie się do wody, było to zdecydowanie zbyt szybko). W przypadku Reachera jest dość standardowo, każda scena, w której eksponuje swoje mięśnie, siłę lub intelekt, została dobrze napisana i zagrana. Biorąc pod uwagę, że rzadko kiedy nie korzysta choćby z jednego ze swoich atrybutów, jest ich dość dużo. Od rozmów z Sonyą, jej doświadczonym partnerem, czy synem jednego z bohaterów, skończywszy na wykorzystaniu sprytu podczas sprzeczek z Paulim. Początkowo nie przepadałem za Sonyą, myśląc że agentka udaje. Po kilku akcjach okazało się, że jej zawadiacki charakter nie jest maską. Jak trzeba, bohaterka wie gdzie i jak walnąć kogoś w głowę, by osiągnąć swój cel. Potem doszło jeszcze kilka innych scen pokazujących siłę jej charakteru.
Reasumując, Prime i MGM dostarczyli nam kolejny bardzo dobry sezon. Teraz, gdy minęło kilka dni odkąd napisałem wstęp, nie jestem już pewien swojej opinii. Nadal uważam, że to bardzo dobry sezon, ale czy najlepszy? Powiem tak, zastanawiałem się przez dwa dni w luźnych chwilach i... Pod względem akcji jest najlepszy, natomiast jeśli idzie o scenariusz, to nawet jeśli jest gorszy od 1 i 2, to nie jest to wybitnie odczuwalny spadek jakości. W S3 było kilka zapadających w pamięci scen, tak jak w poprzednich. Gdyby nie finał względem którego mieliśmy trochę wyższe wymagania, raczej nie miałbym takiego dylematu. Tak czy siak, polecam. Reacher udowadnia, że można w dzisiejszych czasach stworzyć bardzo dobry serial.
