Somewhat heavy Saturday

You like it or you don't...or...you sometimes like it.

We all have musical tastes that are specific to us based on experiences, upbringing and what we've been exposed to throughout our journey through life. I'm no different.

As someone who was raised from a young age learning to play the piano - I was four and a half when I started out and I'm pretty good at it - I've been fortunate to have been exposed to so much music and from a very young age which led me to have an incredibly varied tastes when it comes to what I listen to now. I'm grateful to my parents for making that happen, although there was a time when they thought I shouldn't listen to KISS tracks back in the day. Fortunately, I was able to make that happen, behind their backs, and I also found other such music to like as well.

I didn't mind heavy metal music although I was selective, and still am.

Some heavy metal music is quite extreme and some not so and I think each has a place and time. There's different genres like thrash metal, doom metal, speed metal (not my thing), death and black metal plus some others I guess I may not know about; each has it's own following and good on those who do so, music is music after all.

I've operated in environments where death metal was rather popular, it's used to raise the heart rate and pump a person up to do difficult things; I wasn't a fan of that preferring my own methods to prepare me for what was to come but it worked for others. I listen to heavy metal these days though, well on the less extreme end of it, and I thought I'd share what I had playing in the last few days. I think the heavy metal purists would not call this heavy metal instead calling it heavy rock, with the exception perhaps of Disturbed, and they'd be right...but fuck it, who really cares. (Not fucken me at this point folks.)

Enjoy...or don't enjoy. Like it...or don't like it. Those choices are up to you and as far as I'm concerned it makes no difference to me which you choose.
