Has it ever happened to you that you know a character from a series, movie, comic book, manga or video game, a character that you have seen for several years in some audio-visual media, but you don't know the name of that character, where it comes from or what is the plot of the series/movie/video game of that character? Well, that's something that happened to me with the character that stars in the game I'll talk about today: Lucky Luke, a cowboy who has a design quite consistent with the cartoons of the 90's and I really do not remember having seen any episode of the animated series which stars this character. Even if I didn't fall into some fake video, before playing the game starring Lucky Luke I saw that in Red Dead Redemption 2 there is a cameo of this character who is the fastest cowboy in the world. I decided to play his video game and discovered a very entertaining platform and action game.
**That's why today's Retro Review is about: Lucky Luke (Super Nintendo).**
The Dalton brothers, made up of Joe, William, Jack and Averell are the eternal rivals of our protagonist Lucky Luke, they have escaped once again from jail, since for these four brothers, being arrested and later escaping from jail is not something new for them. So now that they have escaped again Lucky Luke must go in search of them to arrest them and lock them up again, but as usual in this type of stories to meet our goals we must overcome various adversities and obstacles, where we must leave the name up to the fastest gunman in the world, being even faster than his shadow. A simple story, but effective, a story that could easily be one more episode of the animated series, which although I have never seen, it is not difficult to assume that something like this can happen in any of them. Graphically it is a very nice and colorful game, which compared to the episodes of the animated series (I had to watch a couple of episodes to know how more or less like this series was) is quite similar to its counterpart, even during part of the game we will be presented with certain events of the story through comic pages, which, although these do not have much graphic quality, still look good and serve to develop the story a little more dynamically.

Logically, Lucky Luke's design is the one that stands out the most on screen, a somewhat simple design, but that conveys enough personality just by seeing how he walks, in this way the developers of this game managed to recreate the personality of this charismatic character quite well, both in the way he walks, as well as in the different animations he can perform. There is a decent variety of enemies in the scenarios, all of them being very representative of the old west. Similarly the scenarios, which also just by seeing them we know that this is a game of the 90's, it is difficult to explain, but that is something that if you have played many video games in your life, you automatically know that it is. These scenarios are also very varied, they have a good amount of detail, although logically there will also be some scenarios a little simpler and boring, but in general terms they are very good. The developers of this game really managed to recreate quite well what you can see in the animated series and even in the comics of this character. Musically it is very good and has a type of melody that we can easily associate with the old west and ultimately this is a game that has a pretty good soundtrack, fitting perfectly with the whole theme of cowboys, deserts, saloons and the old west.

The sound effects are normal, not something that stands out too much, but they are there to fulfill very well with its purpose of achieving a better atmosphere and connection with all the elements of the old west, besides giving you some personality to both the characters as well as the scenario in which we find ourselves and the situation we are living at that moment. Lucky Luke (Super Nintendo) is mainly a platform game, with certain elements of action and has a mode in which we are riding with the faithful horse of our protagonist, thus giving some variety in terms of gameplay, which is something quite good that adds much more fun and entertainment. We will advance through the scenarios, jumping over platforms and obstacles, reaching objectives and shooting at any enemy we have in front of us. Lucky Lucke can also use dynamite to eliminate enemies, so we can move forward to reach the final boss of each level.

When we are in the phase where we are on the back of our horse, the game switches to a mode where the camera is behind our character and his horse, the mode is a kind of shooting game on rails, which is quite entertaining. But there is also another mode on the horse which we go forward, dodging obstacles in the way and shooting enemies, but this time the mode is a horizontal scroll, also has another mode similar to the first one I explained, but this time we do not go on the horse. In short, it is a very entertaining game and now I am more curious to know more about this charismatic character.

¿No les ha pasado que conocen a un personaje de alguna serie, película, comic, manga o videojuego, un personaje que lo han visto durante varios años en algún medio audio-visual, pero no saben cómo se llama ese personaje, de donde proviene o cual es el argumento de la serie/película/videojuego de ese personaje? Bueno, eso es algo que me pasaba con el personaje que protagoniza el juego del cual les hablaré hoy: Lucky Luke, un vaquero que tiene un diseño bastante acorde a los dibujos animados de los años 90 y realmente no recuerdo haber visto algún episodio de la serie animada la cual protagoniza este personaje. Incluso y si bien no caí en algún video falso, antes de jugar a juego protagonizado por Lucky Luke vi que en Red Dead Redemption 2 hay un cameo de este personaje el cual es el vaquero más rápido del mundo. Me dispuse a jugar su videojuego y descubrí un juego de plataformas y acción bastante entretenido.

Los hermanos Dalton, conformados por Joe, William, Jack y Averell son los eternos rivales de nuestro protagonista Lucky Luke, se han fugado una vez más de la cárcel, ya que para estos cuatro hermanos, ser arrestados y posteriormente huir de la cárcel no es algo nuevo para ellos. Por lo que ahora que nuevamente se han escapado Lucky Luke deberá ir en su búsqueda para arrestarlos y encerrarlos nuevamente, pero como es costumbre en este tipo de historias para poder cumplir con nuestro objetivos debemos superar distintas adversidades y obstáculos, donde debemos dejar el nombre en alto al pistolero más rápido del mundo, siendo incluso más rápido que su sombra. Una historia simple, pero efectiva, una historia que podría ser fácilmente un episodio más de la serie animada, la cual aunque nunca he visto, no es difícil suponer que algo así puede suceder en alguno de ellos. Gráficamente es un juego bastante bonito y muy colorido, el cual comparado con los episodios de su serie animada (tuve que ver un par de episodios para saber cómo más o menos como era esta serie) es bastante similar a su contraparte, incluso durante parte del juego se nos presentaran ciertos acontecimientos de la historia por medio de páginas de historietas, las cuales, aunque estas no tienen tanta calidad gráfica, igualmente se ven bien y sirven para desarrollar la historia de forma un poco más dinámica.

Lógicamente el diseño de Lucky Luke es el que más destaca en pantalla, un diseño algo sencillo, pero que transmite bastante personalidad con tan solo ver como camina, de esta forma los desarrollares de este juego lograron recrear la personalidad de este carismático personaje bastante bien, tanto en la forma de caminar, así como también en las distintas animaciones que puede realizar. Hay una decente variedad de enemigos en los escenarios, todos ellos siendo muy representativos del viejo oeste. De igual manera los escenarios, que además con tan solo verlos sabemos que se trata de un juego de los años 90, es difícil de explicar, pero eso es algo que si has jugado a muchos videojuegos en tu vida, sabes automáticamente que lo es. Estos escenarios también son muy variados, cuentan con buena cantidad de detalles, aunque lógicamente también habrá algunos escenarios un poco más sencillos y aburridos, pero en términos generales son muy buenos. Los desarrolladores de este juego realmente lograron recrear bastante bien lo que se puede ver en la serie animada e incluso en los comics de este personaje. Musicalmente es muy bueno y cuenta con un tipo de melodía que fácilmente podremos asociar al viejo oeste y en definitiva este es un juego que cuenta con una banda sonora bastante buena, encajando a la perfección con toda la temática de vaqueros, desiertos, cantinas y el viejo oeste.

Los efectos de sonido son normales, no es algo que destaque demasiado, pero están ahí para cumplir muy bien con su propósito de lograr una mejor ambientación y conexión con todos los elementos del viejo oeste, además de darte cierta personalidad tanto a los personajes así como también al escenario en el que nos encontremos y a la situación que estemos viviendo en ese momento. Lucky Luke (Super Nintendo) es principalmente un juego de plataformas, con ciertos elementos de acción y que cuenta con una modalidad en la que estamos cabalgando con el fiel caballo de nuestro protagonista, de esta forma le da algo de variedad en términos de jugabilidad, con lo cual es algo bastante bueno que le añade mucha más diversión y entretenimiento. Avanzaremos por los escenarios, saltando sobre plataformas y obstáculos, alcanzando objetivos y disparando a cuanto enemigo tengamos en frente. Lucky Lucke también podrá utilizar dinamita para eliminar a los enemigos, de esta forma podremos ir avanzando para llegar al jefe final de cada nivel.

Cuando nos encontramos en la fase donde estamos a sobre el lomo de nuestro caballo, el juego cambia a un modo donde la cámara se encuentra detrás de nuestro personaje y su caballo el modo es una especie de juego de disparos sobre rieles, el cual resulta bastante entretenido. Pero también hay otro modo sobre el caballo el cual vamos avanzando, esquivando obstáculos en el camino y disparando enemigos, pero esta vez el modo es un scroll horizontal, también cuenta con otra modalidad similar a la primera que expliqué, pero esta vez no vamos sobre el caballo. En definitiva es un juego muy entretenido y ahora tengo más curiosidad por saber más de este carismático personaje.
