Hace un año, hice un post sobre el crecimiento de mi emprendimiento y vengo a actualizarlos.
Este año que pasó fue de aprender a cuidar el flujo de caja, entender que este dinero no es mío, es de mi negocio, y que las decisiones que tome afectarán el negocio. Comencé a tomar decisiones importantes y a dejar de gastar el dinero en cosas personales. Cada centavo vale, así que comencé a registrar absolutamente todo. También comencé a llevar unos inventarios muy detallados y a sacar los costos reales de los productos, que, la verdad, al principio era un completo desastre. Me pasaba mucho que mis amigos me invitaban a cosas y lugares donde terminaba rechazando el plan porque, aunque tuviese dinero, realmente no tenía, ya que era de la tienda. Siento que esto me ha ayudado a mejorar mi relación con el dinero y a verlo como un medio y no un fin.
La situación de mi país es un poco complicada para los negocios pequeños, ya que con el cambio de moneda muchas veces se terminan perdiendo las ganancias de los productos, así que hay que tener los números claros para saber dónde estás parado.
Sigo arrendando un pequeño espacio en el salón de belleza de mi amiga, así que esto hace que mis costos no se eleven tanto y me da un poco de libertad para hacer otras cosas, como el curso que tomé a finales del año pasado para entender los marcos legales de los negocios en mi país.
A year ago, I wrote a post about the growth of my business, and I'm here to update you.
This past year has been about learning how to manage cash flow, understanding that this money isn't mine, it belongs to my business, and that the decisions I make will affect the business. I started making important decisions and stopped spending money on personal things. Every penny counts, so I started recording absolutely everything. I also started keeping very detailed inventories and calculating the actual costs of products, which, honestly, was a complete disaster at first. It often happened that my friends would invite me to things and places, but I would end up turning down the plan because, even if I had money, I really didn't have any, since it was from the store. I feel like this has helped me improve my relationship with money and see it as a means, not an end.
The situation in my country is a bit complicated for small businesses, since currency exchange often ends up losing the profits from products, so you have to have clear numbers to know where you stand.
I still rent a small space in my friend's beauty salon, so this keeps my costs down and gives me a little freedom to do other things, like the course I took at the end of last year to understand the legal framework for business in my country.
He avanzado paso a paso en nuevos equipos para peinar mejor las pelucas. Compré un cabezal que está súper bonito y me sirve mucho para la creación de contenido, que es una parte importante para lograr ventas. Y este año también me propuse que la presentación fuera un poco más linda, así que mejoré mi empaque y ahora las pelucas vienen con un lindo bolso a prueba de agua, que ayuda a que la peluca se mantenga en buen estado. No tenía mucho dinero para un gran mueble, así que mi papá me ayudó a hacer un estante donde puedo exhibir más pelucas y extensiones, y hace que la tienda se vea bonita.
Me pasaba mucho que las clientas que usaban las pelucas de diario se les ponía un poco fea la peluca, ya que la fibra sintética se tiende a enredar fácil. Así que, para las clientas que usan las pelucas a diario por condiciones de salud, con la compra de la peluca tienen un mantenimiento gratis mensual durante 12 meses, para así asegurarles que su peluca siempre va a estar linda. También hago videos para estas clientas, mostrándoles cómo pueden arreglar sus pelucas en casa, por si no pueden pasar por la tienda.
Conscientemente, me mantengo tomando este tipo de decisiones que puedo mantener en el tiempo y que también ayudan a mis clientas para que su experiencia sea agradable.
Me pasó mucho, empezando a hacer este post, que pensé que el crecimiento de este año que pasó no había sido mucho, pero la verdad, escribiendo, me doy cuenta de que tengo una base sólida, conozco muy bien mis números, siento mi emprendimiento mucho más sólido y eso me llena de mucho orgullo.
El tiempo pasa volando y este año es el ejemplo, así que te digo que, si quieres emprender, te recomiendo empezar ya, desde lo que puedas hacer, así te parezca pequeño, y como dice mi papá, es mejor tener amigos que plata, así que rodéate de las personas adecuadas.
I've been making progress step by step with new equipment to better style wigs. I bought a super-cute head that helps me a lot with content creation, which is an important part of making sales. And this year I also decided to make the presentation a little nicer, so I improved my packaging, and now the wigs come with a nice waterproof bag, which helps keep the wig in good condition. I didn't have a lot of money for a big piece of furniture, so my dad helped me make a shelf where I can display more wigs and extensions, and it makes the shop look nice.
I often found that clients who wore wigs every day found their wigs a little unsightly, since synthetic fibers tend to tangle easily. So, for clients who wear wigs daily due to health conditions, with the purchase of a wig, they receive free monthly maintenance for 12 months, ensuring their wig will always look beautiful. I also make videos for these clients, showing them how to style their wigs at home, in case they can't make it to the store.
I consciously continue making these types of decisions that I can maintain over time and that also help my clients have a pleasant experience.
When I started writing this post, I often thought that the growth this past year hadn't been much. But the truth is, as I write, I realize I have a solid foundation. I know my numbers very well. My business feels much more solid, and that fills me with pride.
Time flies, and this year is a prime example. So, if you want to start a business, I recommend starting now, with whatever you can do, no matter how small it seems. And as my dad says, it's better to have friends than money, so surround yourself with the right people.
