Desde que existen los glampings, siempre me dio curiosidad ir a uno. A mi ciudad tardó un tiempo en llegar este tipo de hospedaje y, de hecho, soñaba con hacer uno propio, pero la pandemia y la inversión grande hicieron que sea una de esas metas que está guardadita en mi corazón.
Ever since glamping sites began, I’ve always been curious about going to one. It took a while for this type of accommodation to reach my city, and I actually dreamed of starting my own, but the pandemic and the large investment made it one of those goals I hold dear to my heart.
Este Glamping está ubicado en los páramos mágicos de Capacho, en Táchira, Venezuela, a aproximadamente 30 minutos de la ciudad. La entrada fue aproximadamente a las 4:30 pm y apenas llegamos, dejamos nuestros bolsos y fuimos a ver las áreas del glamping. Cuenta con un restaurante al que puedes entrar sin necesidad de hospedarse en el glamping, y los precios de la comida no me parecen descabellados, desde $4 a $20 por persona. En las áreas verdes hay varios animales, como una especie de zoológico de contacto donde varios animales la mayor parte del tiempo están caminando libres por el lugar y, aunque obviamente hay que ser muy respetuosos con ellos, suelen ser muy cariñosos.
This glamping site is located in the magical Capacho moors, in Táchira, Venezuela, approximately 30 minutes from the city. Check-in was approximately 4:30 pm, and as soon as we arrived, we dropped off our bags and went to see the glamping areas. It has a restaurant that you can enter without having to stay at the glamping site, and the food prices don’t seem unreasonable to me, ranging from $4 to $20 per person. In the green areas, there are several animals, like a petting zoo where several animals roam freely around the area most of the time. Although you obviously have to be very respectful of them, they tend to be very affectionate.
Este es el domo que reservamos para celebrar nuestro aniversario. El área del domo privada tiene su baño y jacuzzi privado. Dentro del domo está la cama, sillas y mesa para desayunador, y las comodidades como batas y toallas para pasar una o varias noches.
Al entregarnos el domo, nos entregan también un radiocontrol para comunicarnos con las personas del lugar por cualquier cosa que necesitemos. Nosotros decidimos cenar en el restaurante, así que llamamos por radio y nos buscaron en este carrito rústico para llevarnos del domo al restaurante, ya que sería una caminata larga y empinada.
This is the dome we reserved to celebrate our anniversary. The private dome area has its own bathroom and jacuzzi. Inside the dome are the bed, chairs, and a breakfast table, as well as amenities such as bathrobes and towels for one or more nights.
When we received the dome, we were also given a radio remote control to communicate with the locals for anything we needed. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant, so we called by radio, and they picked us up in this rustic cart to take us from the dome to the restaurant, as it would be a long and steep walk.
Cenamos con una vista muy bonita de la ciudad de noche y luego llegamos al domo de nuevo a disfrutar el jacuzzi, que es muy sencillo pero con las cosas que se necesitan para el lugar. Es un jacuzzi portátil y podíamos ir regulando la temperatura; nosotros le pusimos las burbujas que nos habían dejado. La temperatura en el lugar es normalmente fría, ya que estamos en un páramo como de aprox. 20°C. Tomamos un baño caliente de burbujas con la vista a la ciudad y luego vimos una película para dormir en la habitación que, por el frío, tenía un calefactor; esto en el trópico es muy raro, pero por el lugar lo agradecí.
We had dinner with a beautiful view of the city at night and then returned to the dome to enjoy the jacuzzi, which is very simple but has the necessary equipment. It’s a portable jacuzzi, and we could regulate the temperature; we added the bubbles they had provided for us. The temperature inside is usually cool, since we’re in a moorland, around 20°C. We took a hot bubble bath overlooking the city and then watched a movie before going to sleep in the room, which had a heater because of the cold. This is very rare in the tropics, but I appreciated it for the location.
Al llevarnos de vuelta al domo, nos dijo el chico del carro que por las noches muchas veces se oyen ruidos de pequeños animalitos que caminan fuera del domo, que no había de qué preocuparse ya que había muchos gatos por la zona. Hay algo que comentan las personas que viven o visitan seguido esta zona, y es que suelen salir duendes por las noches; curiosamente, no muy lejos de allí está el Páramo del Duende, así que quizás su nombre no sea en vano.
La mañana siguiente me desperté super temprano, a las 5 am, porque quería disfrutar de las horas que quedaban antes del check out, que era a las 12 del mediodía. Aproveché la oportunidad para agradecer lo bonito del lugar y de la experiencia que estaba viviendo. El desayuno estaba incluido, así que por radio pedimos el desayuno y cafecito caliente. Terminamos de comer y comenzó a salir el sol, y tomamos otro baño en el jacuzzi para luego tomar unas fotos en el lugar. Ya a eso de las 10:30 am el sol estaba tan fuerte que los teléfonos marcaban UV extremo y tuvimos que volver a entrar al domo para preparar la salida.
As we were driving back to the dome, the driver told us that at night you can often hear the sounds of small animals walking outside the dome, and that there was nothing to worry about since there were plenty of cats in the area. People who live in or visit this area often comment that goblins often come out at night. Interestingly, not far from there is the Goblin Páramo, so perhaps its name isn’t in vain.
The next morning I woke up super early, at 5 a.m., because I wanted to enjoy the remaining hours before checkout, which was at noon. I took the opportunity to be grateful for the beauty of the place and the experience I was having. Breakfast was included, so we radioed for breakfast and hot coffee. We finished eating and the sun began to rise, and we took another dip in the jacuzzi and then took some photos of the area. By 10:30 a.m., the sun was so strong that our phones were displaying extreme UV radiation, and we had to go back inside the dome to prepare for our outing.
I really feel like they need more activities, but I really enjoyed the experience and it felt very relaxing.
