Couple photoshoot by the dam _ monomad daily chalenge

This couple’s photoshoot took place on a dry, cracked land surrounded by soft hills and dramatic skies—a landscape that seemed both powerful and quiet at the same time. There was no lush greenery or flowers here, just textures, lines, and a wide-open space that told its own story.
They wore coordinated checkered outfits—simple, comfortable, and expressive of who they were. I didn’t want them to pose too much. I just asked them to be with each other, to walk, to laugh, to hold hands. And they did. Every moment between them was effortless, honest, and full of connection.
The wind was cold and the clouds were constantly shifting. I had to work fast with light and movement, especially since we were shooting in black and white. In this setting, contrast becomes everything. The lines on the ground, the patterns on their clothes, the look in their eyes—all needed to be captured without overcomplicating the frame.
One of my favorite shots was taken just as he dipped her in a soft dance move. Her boots off the ground, both of them smiling into each other. In another frame, he kissed her forehead gently under the weight of the cloudy sky—a small moment, but full of meaning.
And then there was that simple walk on the empty road—no one else in sight, just the two of them walking side by side, talking. It didn’t need any direction. That’s the beauty of working with couples who trust each other and the process.
At the end of the road where we walked and I photographed, there was a beautiful dam—one of my favorite hidden spots for both photography and film. It offers a wide, cinematic.
This shoot reminded me that you don’t always need perfect sunlight or dreamy gardens. Sometimes all you need is space, trust, and two people who are completely present for one another.
Thank you to this beautiful couple for their warmth and natural energy. And thank you to nature, even in its
starkest form, for offering us something quiet and real
