Hello, music-inspired Hivers.
Among Evanescence’s greatest songs is My Immortal. What I love about the lyrics is that the title alludes to a specific person, but it could also be interpreted as the definition of a feeling that never fades. Love, despair, nostalgia?
These wounds won’t seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There’s just too much that time cannot erase
The song is rich in all three. In fact, they intertwine with one another.
But I also felt these emotions stem from a sense of injustice. The girl has done so much for him, and he ultimately has to abandon her:
When you cried, I’d wipe away all of your tears
When you’d scream, I’d fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years (...)
I’ve tried so hard to tell myself that you’re gone
But though you’re still with me
I’ve been alone all along
So yes, there was love (You used to captivate me by your resonating light), but deep down, there’s a lingering sense that everything that happened is unfair, unbalanced, not entirely reciprocal.
The lyrics of the beautiful My Immortal engage in an intimate dialogue with another monumental song: Fix You by Coldplay.
The poetic voice in this text understands what’s happening inside the girl from the other song:
When you try your best, but you don’t succeed (...)
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
But in response to the common lament that “it’s not fair,” it offers a solution: release the love that torments you, let it go, find strength within yourself.
It’s the typical compassionate advice for someone suffering from an obsessive love. But can you achieve this on your own when the feeling overwhelms you constantly? Here enters the figure of an anonymous healer, someone who can mend your inner brokenness:
And I will try to fix you
Who is this being? How will he do it? Those who’ve found faith in a god know how healing it is to follow their teachings; but (with all respect to believers), many religions are built on dogmas and rigid attitudes that cannot change, that don’t allow transformation.
Those of us who’ve discovered the path of honey—of creating content for Hive—know how healing it is to build community, forge connections, share new ideas and emotions, and let go of unnecessary, paralyzing pain.
So we must try, yes, because as Coldplay says:

Then, that Healer might appear, who—through the song’s beautiful internal rhyme (guide-ignite-try)—could ignite your bones and soul.

Hola, Hivers inspirados por la música.
Entre las grandes canciones de Evanescence se encuentra My inmortal. Me gusta de la letra que el título alude a una persona concreta, pero también podría interpretarse como la definición de un sentimiento que no se extingue. ¿El amor, la desesperación, la nostalgia?
Estas heridas no parecen sanar,
Este dolor es demasiado real
Hay simplemente demasiado que el tiempo no puede borrar
La canción es rica en cualquiera de los tres. De hecho, se entrelazan uno con otro.
Pero también me pareció que estos sentimientos son derivados de la sensación de Injusticia. La chica ha hecho muchas cosas por él, y él en definitiva, tiene que abandonarla:
Cuando llorabas, yo secaba todas tus lágrimas
Cuando gritabas, yo alejaba todos tus miedos
Y sostuve tu mano a través de todos estos años (...)
Me he esforzado tanto por decirme a mí misma que te has ido
*Pero aunque todavía estás conmigo
He estado sola todo este tiempo
De modo que sí, hubo amor (Solías cautivarme con tu luz resonante), pero en el fondo queda la sensación de que todo lo acontecido no es justo, no fue equilibrado, no ha sido recíproco del todo.
La letra de la bella My inmortal sostiene un diálogo íntimo con otra canción enorme: Fix You, de Coldplay.
La voz poética de este texto entiende lo que sucede dentro de la chica de la otra canción:
Cuando haces tu mejor esfuerzo, pero no lo logras (...)
Cuando pierdes algo que no puedes reemplazar
Cuando amas a alguien, pero todo se destruye
¿Podría ser peor?
Pero ante habitual reclamo de que "no es justo", ofrece una solución: soltar el amor que te perturba, dejarlo ir, darse valor a uno mismo.
Es la solución, la compasión típica hacia quien sufre una obsesión amorosa. Pero, ¿puedes lograrlo por ti mismo cuando el sentimiento te invade a toda hora? Aquí entra la figura de un sanador anónimo, alguien que puede arreglar tus roturas internas:
Y yo intentaré repararte
¿Quién es ese ser? ¿Cómo lo hará? Quienes han descubierto la fe en un dios, saben cuánto cura seguir su prédica; pero (con el debido respeto hacia los creyentes), muchas religiones se basan en dogmas y actitudes que no pueden transformarse, que no permiten hacerlo.
Quienes hemos descubierto el camino de la miel, de la creación de contenidos para Hive, sabemos cuánto sana hacer comunidad, generar celdas, compartir ideas nuevas, emociones, y soltar el innecesario y paralizante dolor.
De modo que hay que intentarlo, sí, porque como afirma Coldplay:
si nunca lo intentas, nunca sabrás
cuánto vales realmente
Entonces es posible que aparezca ese Curador que, entonando la hermosa rima interna de la canción (guide-ignite-try: guiar, encender, tratar), podría encender tus huesos y tu alma.
