There are songs that seem to be in dialogue with each other, as if they were poems in the same book or chapters in a short novel.
A while back, I commented on Harry Styles's "Sign of the Times" and its chorus, "We gotta get away from here"
Well, it seems that, by a work of imagination, Tracy Chapman accepts Styles' suggestion and speeds off in her partner's car ("Fast Car"), fleeing a horrible past, a tiring life, the fugitive couple moving away in the direction of their shared dream:
