| I am super happy today, you can't imagine the excitement! Finally, the rain has started, and that is the best news my little garden could receive. Here at home, the water service is a true odyssey: it reaches us every eight days, and only for about 7 hours. It’s a rush to fill jugs, tanks, and 300 soda bottles, because we have to stretch every drop as if it were gold. Seeing those first drops fall is like seeing blessings from heaven. My plants are celebrating, and so am I, because I know they will drink all that fresh water they needed to thrive. | Estoy super contento hoy, ¡no se imaginan cuánto es la emoción! Por fin ha comenzado la lluvia, y esas son las mejores noticias que podía recibir mi jardincito. Aquí en la casa, el servicio de agua es una verdadera odisea: nos llega cada ocho días, y solo por unas 7 horas. Es un corre-corre para llenar pipotes, tanques y hasta 300 botellas de gaseosa, porque después nos toca estirar cada gota como si fuera oro. Ver esas primeras gotas caer es como ver caer bendiciones del mismo cielo. Mis matas se ponen de fiesta, y yo también, porque sé que van a tomar toda esa agua fresca que tanto les hacía falta para prosperar. |
| In this little piece of land, I dedicate myself to growing my own food. It’s not a luxury garden; it’s a common neighborhood garden, made with love, sweat, and "inventions" so everything grows strong, improving the soil with leaves and cardboard. Look at my sweet pepper and hot chili plants! | En este pedacito de tierra, me dedico a cultivar mis propias cosas para mi consumo. No es un jardín de revista de lujo, es un jardín de barrio, con amor, sudor y bastantes "inventos" para que todo crezca fuerte, mejorando la tierra con hojas y cartón. ¡Miren cómo están mis matas de pimiento dulce y ají picante! |

| This is a sweet pepper; look at the one it already has! It is very green and a good size. It will be great for salads or a stew. And over here, you see a "chirel" or hot chili; you have to be careful! It already has several chilies forming, and they are quite spicy. | Esta es una de pimiento, ¡miren ese que ya tiene! Está bien verdecito y ya tiene buen tamaño. A ver qué tal sale para unas ensaladas o un buen guiso. Y por acá esta que ven, es una de ají chirel o picante, ¡hay que tener cuidado con esta! Ya tiene unos cuantos ajíes formándose, y son bastante picantes. |

| Look how beautiful it climbs this trellis I improvised with branches! Soon it will give flowers and fresh juice! I also have cilantro in its seedbed; perfect for a soup.
