As I set off on my walk around the outskirts of my village, the road winds slightly uphill. It becomes much easier the more I do it.
Not far into the walk, I am greeted by cheerful yellow dandelions, which are usually classified as weeds. These wildflowers add a bright splash of colour, reminding me that beauty can be found in even the simplest of things. It's a shame to mow them down.
Since my last visit to the woods near my village, the number of bluebells has doubled, and the air is full of a sweet scent.
Wood anemones tend to thrive in woodlands and in this case, on the side of the road. They have pretty star-shaped white flowers, which sometimes have a pinkish tinge.
The old boathouse looks particularly photogenic when the sun shines, casting a reflection on the water. It is a favourite
spot for photographers and visitors alike.
While there weren't many fungi present, the ones I spotted were quite large. Although I did get stung by some nettles, it was definitely worthwhile to get a closer look. To soothe my nettle sting, I used a nearby dock leaf on my leg because it has anti-inflammatory properties.
After completing my walk around the outskirts of the village, I felt a sense of achievement as I'm trying hard to keep my fitness levels up!
