In the spring of 2009, Marvel Comics released #3 of "Dark Avengers." Anyone who went to the movie theaters to see "Thunderbolts" will easily recognize the issues of Bob Reynolds. Norman Osborn has replaced Tony Stark in his roles with the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. due to Stark falling on his sword after the Skrull Invasion. Osborn has also become The Iron Patriot, a knockoff of Iron Man. He created a new team that involves many knockoffs.
Osborn uses his own mental illnesses to try and convince Bob that he can overcome his. Bob is still fearful of The Void and Osborn keeps repeating that The Void is not real. Osborn appears to be getting through to Bob. While Marvel's readers know the real Osborn, the public is regarding him as some sort of hero. Mike Deodato and Rain Beredo have a way of displaying true emotions with their artwork. The therapy session between Bob and Osborn couldn't have been told better than the way Brian Michael Bendis treated the storyline.
Morgana LeFay is throwing everything at Osborn's motley team which includes Hawkeye (Bullseye), Ms. Marvel (Moonstone), Spider-Man (Venom), as well as other copycats. With Latveria under attack, Osborn makes a deal with Doctor Doom. With spells being cast by the evil sorceress, this story continues into #4. It is an interesting arc of the Marvel Universe that isn't relied upon for stories in other media, but one that should be!
