Who doesn't enjoy a little PDA on Valentine's Day? That's what it's for right?
Yesterday, Locals Food Hub & Pizza Pub was full of folks engaging in public displays of activism for the 'We ❤️ PDA' event.
Put on by Sharp Objects 502, 50501 Kentucky and Indivisible Derby City, the shindig was part pizza party and part hands-on action.
Stations were set up to go with the bingo cards.
There were Valentines for detainees. . .
. . . and voter registration and voting information.
Writing letters to the politichickens that 'represent' us.
Button-making, so you could take your Fuck ICE vibe with you wherever you go.
Mutual aid, protest art, and learning about apps that automate the process for pestering politicos were some of the other stations.
As much as anything though, it was about coming together and being in community. The weapons of mass distraction are meant to demoralize and isolate us, but events like this serve to push back against all that.
