The paint by numbers kit finally showed up. It's real now.
I've been talking about doing this for a while. Even posted about it not long ago. Something to work on hand eye coordination and relax with. Something that isn't reading or studying or staring at a screen. Well now it's sitting on my dining room table and I'm a little intimidated.
40x50cm with 14 colors and 3 brushes. Looks about as hard as I expected. Some of those spaces are tiny. Like really tiny!
Here's the thing, my hands shake, a lot. Holding something still while trying to paint inside a space the size of a pinhead is going to be a challenge. Maybe that's the point. I want to work on the steadiness and build the coordination. Then again, maybe I'll end up with a blob that vaguely resembles a battleship. Either way I'm doing it.
Planning to start this week. I will be set up in the dining room where I can spread out and leave it between sessions. Then again, not sure if I can leave it. The cats may decide they want to walk on it.
No rush or deadline. Just me and some paint and a picture that will eventually look like something. Hopefully a battleship!
Nervous? Yeah, but also kind of excited. It's been a long time since I tried something new just for the hell of it. Something that wasn't for work, certification, or business. Something just for me. Well, there was the HAM radio test, but that is different I think.
Shoutout to @fieryfootprints for putting this idea in my head. We'll see if I curse your name or thank you when it's done.
Regular updates to come.
Anyone else ever try paint by numbers? Any tips for a shaky handed beginner?

Thanks for reading,
Joe
